Apparently their inventory is a shitshow. When I was in the store the other weekend the sales rep spoke of it as if it was a war zone. He said single shoes were laying out in the storerooms unattended. I can only imagine the warehouses.

Probably not a ton you can do - maybe RFID tag high end items but that's a large cost unless implemented automatically on supplier side...

The same thing happens all the time at Nordstrom's too. I can't believe some people, you have to be a total ************* to do something like that.

Then the item keeps getting returned and it costs the store money for shipping/packaging if people keep buying and returning the fake item. It's happened in the John Elliott thread.

The stores are already struggling and I'm worried they won't make it. Now if it happened to Amazon I wouldn't give a ****.

they make fake john elliott? I always wonder about the fake stores that show up in google when you search for just about any item and it's listed in every size for $70. I figured they were just scams and they don't actually make fakes of everything but maybe I'm wrong

@Regg in the case of Nordstrom's people were taking John Elliott tags and stitching them on cheap items and returning it. A lot of them were lazy and didn't even remove the tags of the other brand. Some didn't even stitch JE tags in and returned items that were clearly not the brand

Was it a fake of the correct style shoe or something totally random? And was the upper at all convincing (did you have any need to see Chinese lettering and 3-in-1 range sizing on the bottom to know it was counterfeit)?

It was very close looking at it from external - not terrible quality based on spec. But the sole was slightly different and the suede panel on the upper consistent with the rest, which is not the case on a legit pair, and the insole was as you see, whereas it should be a vegetan lining with glued half insole.

I probably wouldn't have IDed as easily if I hadn't handled a real pair.

gotcha. they really should catch that stuff...

I just remember it had happened to me too, though from Barneys. SLP tags sewn into a random cheap shirt.
