1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Cheers,

Ta for the link Ivwri - I'm a bit confused too as it was billed as a product launch...

I think Aitor Throup has been dead for more than a year and this is all a hoax...

was just watching this actually. interesting the way he talks about his stuff. we certainly shouldn't expect seasonal collections from him. sounds like he's designed what he wants to put out at this point and he'll just dip into his archives now and again, maybe tweaking things a little.

I thought they were bringing in someone new? Before his YSL post, Hedi was rumoured to be linked with Cardin

    Didn't know you were a V&R fan

I'm sorry I like Throup but that was not a fashion presentation...

well, he has the fantasy part of fashion down, I suppose. now he's just got to get some clothing in there.

That's usually the case... but all he did this time was present a concept. Let's see some clothes... or at least some sketches. I do not see any connection to fashion in this presentation. To me its a cool art exhibition.

By his own concession though, isn't he a product designer rather than fashion designer? It's just that in this instance the product happens to be clothes, bags, etc. Therefore London's fashion week is as good a place as any to turn up the PR machine,

In a lot of ways then what he's doing is more analogous to an art installation ala what Cosmic Wonder has done for years, though obviously Aitor and Yukinori have universally different aesthetics. He's challenging the necessitation to turn shit around every 6 months, and while the pace seems fucking glacial, that's as much due to our own habituation around fashion weeks, new collections, etc...

but Cosmic Wonder always showed clothes... or at least created a defined connection towards clothing. Aitor's exhibition was about Mongolians and their horses... [IMG]
