I'm happy to report that the grey Assam actually is grey although in lower light they may appear

These look really good. They do look grey, the very slight brown undertone enhances the color though, imo

Wow, those oxbloods turned out to be a lot more reddish than I had expected, I really like that grey too, the Ricards should be the same grey, no?

Man, the things I have to do for my imaginary internet shoe friends. Brown (sigaro) Starrs versus grey Assams. [IMG] Red Rollins, red Cage, oxblood Bihars. [IMG] Oh, for those who care about such things, Bihars and Assams came with the single holstein style shoe bag. No red/black shoe bags. Also came in the current clamshell box with spare laces.

I saw the dip dye grey Millers at Barney's and I think the grey Ricards are supposed to use the same dip dye grey. The grey Assams are similar colorwise but they're definitely a different finish. The Assam finish is fairly smooth and polished. The dip dyes are more of a matte finish.

Hey zippy what size do you take in starrs? Is the rubber sole on the bihars comfortable?

I wear size 10UK in Starrs although a 9.5UK will work too.
I haven't worn the Bihars other than a few minutes around the house trying them on.

Thanks for the pics... are the Bihars basically the Ricards with a rubber sole?

RFX, if you dont mind posting pics of the brown bihars, it would be appreciated.

Will post pics when it arrives. My Oxblood Bihars were held on customs but after a call and seeing that I was still on their records, they were released without filling out a form and should arrive tomorrow. Hopefully that means it will not incur customs charges.

I wouldn't say the Bihar is the Ricards with rubber sole. This one seems a bit wider and definitely made with a different last from the sizing difference alone. The toe box on this one won't be as low profile as the Ricards and the overall stitching and designs are different.

Check out the comparison pics by Zippy.

PS Experts or PS York boot owners:

Any advice on sizing on the York Boot, i want to pull the trigger on a pair soon. I'm typically a US 8.5-9.

    Thanks in advance.

York and Pinkertons fit about 1/2 size bigger than Ricards.
So I got 11US/10UK Ricards and 10.5US/9.5UK Yorks and Pinks.
YMMV as to whether this scales.

    ^^^

    Thanks,

That's what I figured w/ the uk 7 in the York measuring out to 11 3/4" and the 7.5 hitting 12". Hopefully the the 7 works.

thinking about getting my first pair of PS shoes, love those brown Bihars. Would really rather try on first, but PS shoes aren't carried near me.
-Does size UK 8 sound right? I wear US10 in clark dbs and chucks, 10.5 in frye boots.
also if you get hit with customs, what does that run? (planning on ordering from milanclothing, thanks for the site, great price)
