There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

If it's just the iPhone 4S, who would actually go and buy it if they own an iPhone 4? That's ridiculous.

Have you ever seen an iPhone release? There will be plenty. However, you bring up a good point that I will add to my questions. So here are my questions for everyone:

    1. Are all of you eligible for an upgrade at this time? What are your plans? Will you pay to upgrade early? Right now I am not eligible for an upgrade until November 17 and I bought the 4 on release day. Surely others of you are in the same boat.

    2. If you have the iPhone 4 will you upgrade if they only release a 4s? Ordinarily I would still upgrade BUT it looks like upgrade eligibility is getting stricter after everyone's next upgrade. From what I have read they will be sticking to an 18-22 month early upgrade eligibility vs. 12 month. That would probably have me waiting unless they release a 5. Thoughts?

No, I imagine this to be more like the old push-to-talk Nextel phones, where people would be holding it up parallel to their nose and yelling into it.

But why would you get the 4s if you have the 4? It's almost the exact same phone! I understand if this was the redesigned 5... I don't know, maybe I just don't get it. I had an iPhone 3G, and I didn't spring for the 3GS... but then again, I didn't want a 4 either (think the design is awful).

I doubt it. People will mostly use this feature on the road. Think headsets.

You will be sorely mistaken. Mark my words.

Can't believe I'm actually going to watch the announcement on stream. I've bought into the hype on this one.

Some casemaker is already taking orders for an iOS device (could be iPhone 5??) case based on screen dimension of 4.44". Interesting.

My 3GS is so beat to hell that I don't care what it's going to be...I just want one.

I'm still holding out hope for an actual new iPhone 5...i just can't imagine Apple would allow themselves to hold out for this long, create this much buzz, all over the same phone with new guts.

It's kind of understandable if it does happen the way you predict. Everyone bitches that people look goofy when using headsets in public. Well this feature might at times give you information that needs to be seen. Using the speakerphone could be the only way...

It's the media that makes the buzz. Apple actually never talks about products till they are ready to be announced formally.

That's my point. Apple usually does such a good job of controlling that media buzz (see: product launches on Friday @ 5 for local news telecasts) that I'm surprised they would allow this to get out of hand with people waiting for an iPhone 5. They basically allowed the media/blogosphere to dictate everything...especially with the 3-4 month delay.
