Parallel distortion, or just full on?Putting together a pedal board for my bass. Tuner, compressor, distortion. Thing that's all I'm doing.
probably went with the b because it's unwound and easier to maintain intonation but still gets you that lap steel type effect. i can see using the g as well and it's probably been done.
here's clarence in action at the playboy mansion, you can see his shoulder working the bender, interestingly he does a lot of work with the bend engaged and then lets it 'off' to effect. the original byrds recording was a lap steel and he's just doing that part here
love the dancing.
I have a Gibson ES-350, and since I got my hand on this, I keep it as a treasure. I've dreamed about it for so long because no other Gibson has had those specs ever, and it's an exceptional guitar. The sunburst finish, the split parallelogram inlays, the bounded neck, and so many other features make this guitar representative and special.
I was jamming to Closer to the Heart on bass. It is a great one for bass melody. It gets complicated during the guitar solo. There's a real technique to Geddy Lee's bass stuff. I feel like you have to know the songs (in your head) very very well to be able to get it. It is more of a feel than simply learning the notes. Obviously you can learn the notes, but it makes it easier to kind of know the "Geddy thing" he's got going on.An interesting thing to note is bands that let the bass carry the melody on a regular basis. Leaving aside Rush, I was just noticing Bush does this as I was picking the tab for a few of their songs.
