Yep. There was a big fad after WWII for Hawaiian music. These were inexpensive and often came as part of a simple music course that you bought at the same time.

I have another one here in my office that says "Hula Master" on the amp. I am neither a master nor can I hula but it is a lot of fun to play.

I still have this one. A Guild Artist Award. This is one sweet guitar and with the floating DeArmond PU it has that 50's warm jazz box sound. This is the one that when a pro musician visits they want to play it. It just plays and sounds so good.

Well, it's nice when something works as anticipated. Plugged iPod into aux on amp and could jam along with a couple of simple songs. Making music at home has certainly gotten easier since my garage band days in the 80s.

Loving all of these posts PSG. My favorite is the cherry 350 - what a stunner.
I'm missing my guitar collection - it's tough only playing with one guitar every night day in and day out! But the SG Special is getting me through the shows just fine - it especially loves Black Magic Woman.
As a post festival treat, I'm looking into yet another amp - anyone ever played a Jim Kelley amp (old one, not a Suhr reissue)?

I bought this little gem ES-140, a 3/4 size geetar, from twin sisters in Hayward , CA. They bought it brand spanking new in the 50's, took a few lessons and in the closet it went. I really wanted to keep it but other cool guitars were beckoning so I sold it. Because of the barrel knobs and rounded p-90 I think this was a 53 or 54. It was a sweet little machine.... But it didn't quite have the sound of it's bigger brother an ES-175.

Gibson L-5. This is one of the great all around jazz guitar models made by Gibson. This particular one would have been the last of the archtops to leave the old Gibson Kalamazoo MI plant. It had an orange label but was already begining to reflect changes in the company. The knobs, root beer sunburst and the feel were showing a decline from the golden age of the 50's and early 60's. In the late 70's -early 80's no one collected archtops. The absolute finest vintage Super 400's, L-5's, etc could be had for less than a grand. Then a Japanese collector, Akira Tsumura, began scooping them up dozens at a time. He had several buyers or agents in the US buying vintage archtops for him. His collection soon became large enough that he even published his own book and prices began to climb.

I will continue to want an L5 for a long time but the price and my non-existent jazz chops make it so I may never purchase one. Gorgeous, though I thought you always preferred blondes?
