I think the shadow thing = son. No, it's role is done. Magic, in general, is treated very vaguely. GRRM hints that a lot of magic is show and tell but real magic exists, it is simply less fantastic (less beams of energy and more like the shadow child for example). It's also been hinted that the birth of the new dragons have increased the effectiveness of magic overall in the world, or rather an increase in magic allowed for the birth of the dragons. In the books the alchemist guild admits to there being a recent increase in their ability to make wildfire.

well thats a shitty son, especially considering the real objective with sons seems to be only to inherit the crown. interesting take on the magic though. thanks.

In the books Stannis has an heir daughter and she is a very minor character, she seems to be cut from the show. The show's scene with the priestess was a little weird but in the books I believe it was hinted at that they fucked. However the show makes it seem as if Stannis believed he was getting an heir while the books hint that he did so specifically for the magic assassin. The end result is all the same though so IMO the changes are pretty minor.

cool. as a non book reader changes dont matter much to me. i just like a heads up on what may come. thanks gain for for the info. :)

btw, i hate the red princess, i was hoping davos would kill her.

also sending a ghost to kill your brother is a pretty shit/pussy move. stannis is a douche. i hope he dies soon.

    Book spoiler.

Don't forget the daughter also has "grey scale" which sounds a lot like leprosy.

I like Stannis, he's a cool dude. Although I must admit Margaery is marginally hotter than Melisandre. So Renly wins the hot wife award.

Is there such a thing as "cheating" in war for Westeros? For how much Stannis goes on about honor and the truth, he pulled a pretty scummy move, without it I don't see how Renly could have lost the war (he easily had the largest army, numbered 100K I think to Lannister 40K, something like that).

Yeah, if this was D&D, and I was Stannis' Dungeon Master, I'd dock him 50 experience points for that move for not playing in character.

What about the creepy bald guy who showed up in front of Dany in Qarth? He was one of the thirteenth, I think. What´s up with him?
