My bad, I know Dickon is younger but I skipped past the "older" in your initial post

but "dark sansa" is a show creation IIRC.

Sansa is still a pretty weak maiden in the books

agree with you on Arya though, isn't she around 8 when she kills the stable boy in KL?

Shouldn’t these dragons be fitted with saddles and reins? There is no human strong enough to stay on dragonback while these guys do their diving and banking. Plus, there’s no way the rider can effectively command her mount...unless Dany just tells the dragon to go left, right, down, up in which case she’s a GPS device, not a dragonrider

    Wouldn't reins melt?

With that logic, wouldn't the rider melt?

Reins clip into the animal's mouth. It's how you steer a horse - a small tug is enough to signal the animal to turn its head (which is followed by the body).

This wouldn't work on a dragon because the first time it breathed fire the reins would melt away.

What about a dragon glass bit?
    Or very small rocks?

In the books, dragon glass wasn't especially strong and was only good for killing Others/White Walkers but not the zombies. Dragons half melted Harrenhal and that was made of stone so that's a no go.

I would guess Valeryian steel would hold up the best

Saddles are probably a good idea.

You don't need reigns though... Dragons bond with their rider.

Even with the direct telepathy the Pern dragons and riders had and they still had riding straps.

That part in Dancing with Avatars when they hair-fuck those pterodactyls was disgusting. That movie sucked so much shit.

you are confusing reins with the bit. Also, that's not how reins and supposed to work. Horses are trained to react to the reins being laid against the opposite side of their neck rather than a tug on the bit

Watching it the first time in the theatre I was bothered by how Cameron had plagiarized the ending from The Abyss.

It was his own movie but sheesh
