There were several passages that intimated he was gay, but not nearly as overt as in the series.

I just saw an episode where a passage intimated he sucked some guy's cock. The books seem to suck big time and are huge but the series is watchable trash, I sorta like it now (saw eps 1-5).

I'm watching episode two of this thing and it's, like 99% of american tv/films, aimed at youg adult men with adolescent fantasies (especially when it comes to women and power). Not that the 99% of french films display cultured 30somethings with cool creative lives and 3 days beard make one of the other great filmaking nations look better.

When I was young and arrogant I used to mock my mother for watching mainstream trash. She replied that it was like "taco chips for the mind" and that you can't only consume high culture or else you turn into an anal-retentive sociopath.

She was right, of course, and I really like taco chips.

I accept the fact that they have to throw in some nudity for ratings, but it's starting to get ridiculous. Re: the scene with Littlefinger, ep 7. It's been a while since I read the books but I'm pretty sure that was never in the books. Not that I'm complaining, just seems like there's so much plot to cover and five minutes of lesbian sex is only taking away from it.

That was a particularly over the top and unnecessary sexposition scene. It didn't really even do a good job at exposition.

Do you guys think Daenerys has a problem with Drogo sleeping with other women? While talking about invading the Seven Kingdoms, he mentions "raping their women" and she didn't seem to mind.

Hey I love fried chicken so I know. This thing is TV fried chicken. Porno-looking bleach-blonde chick getting banged by the wrestler with makeup made civilization advance by discovering other positions beside doggystyle, what more can you ask for?

Dude, he's pretty fucking alpha and extremely paleo. I think his paleoness actually turns her on.

He's not some limp-noodled sissy who's going to mince into an enemy city and lisp "We're here to rethpect your women, so pleathe ethcort them out before we do our looting and pillaging!"

I judged the whole Harry Potter series after reading one and a half page in a book store. Did you get that far?

By the way, his was sucked.

No, never opened a Harry Potter book, what are the odds I missed out on some amazing piece of literary genius? (0%). Maybe it is an interesting genre work for children but it really doesn't sound appealing to me so I didn't go as far as reading the books. The ice and fire books just don't raise my pulse, in tv series format with breasts, dismemberement and low-rent political intrigue it is fine. I also haven't read any Danielle Steele (sp).

My thoughts exactly, it's pretty clear HBO demands one sex scene per episode for viewers. This was the first time it felt so unnecessary though.

I'm pretty sure he meant the royal 'I' there.

I am reading the novel now, it's great. Definitely trash, but this is high fantasy...know any of it that isn't trash? I like it for what it is, the best fantasy novel ever written (that I know of, and I used to be a fan of the genre). He's no James Joyce don't get me wrong, but he is the Frank Herbert of the genre IMO. If you really want to see what trash fantasy is like, pick up a novel with the words "Advanced Dungeons & Dragons" written above the title.
