I have sent two coats from Chan to Hallak for cleaning and they come back fine. They repressed the roll back into a lapel which was previously pressed flat by another cleaner.

I just dropped the birdpoop suit off at a place by me, when I suggested that they pay attention to the lapel roll when pressing the woman looked out from under her glasses and said, "Honey, we've been doing this for over 40 years, we'll get it right." Lets hope they do, but I do feel confident.

MrBrioni, good to meet you as well, and nice choices! Frank's working on an overcoat for me (a vintage 1930s fabric) for wear without a jacket underneath.

As far as I know, Frank is slightly below Mina's range...but local, so even if I was thinking, having a working relationship is so much better than using a remote tailor...

If anyone wants a good cleaner reco in my neck of the woods (South Bk (not Red Hook) Staten Island) check Manor Tailors and Cleaners on Manor Road in Staten Island. Carmine is my go to guy there, and has never disappointed...if the bird crap wasn't so HUGE, I'd have waited and taken it there, but it was ridiculous, so I gave the local shop my biz...eventhough they're republicans!:)

I told Frank about your misfortune when I saw him yesterday. He claims it is good luck.

Be careful with overly confident dry cleaners. I used a "reputable" one to bring a tie. I told them after cleaning a stain to only steam and don't press it flat so it is creased on the sides. She balked at me, "of course, we know, we are professionals!" Well, they professionally sucked.

Ties are definitely a specialist job only. the only people to trust a tie with is Tie Crafters.

As an aside, both times I've been shit on by a pigeon everyone around me, including strangers, has insisted that I go play the lottery immediately.

Not true, my new cleaner has done several of mine. No issues at all.

Probably, but my eye went right to the chalk stripe DB. I was in and out pretty quick, just picking up some shirts and trouser alterations.

The only time I have ever been shit on by a bird I happened to be wearing a new suit that was MTM at the time. I scored with a hot chick later that evening, spent the night at her place, overslept, ran home to change before work only to flush the toilet and have it overflow everywhere. I cleaned it up came into work late, hungover, sweaty, and the rest. So, things have their ways of evening out, I think.

I think I saw that coat, was hanging on the mannequin in his NY store. It was hard to miss, had patch + flapped pockets.

All you Manhattan folks are missing out on the sights in Brooklyn. Ask Frank about the new tweed he's getting next time you see him
