1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

The Stefano Bi shoes are from the new season, the nice ones going around 350 USD. I bought a pair (and tried a few others) last year, retail around 600-700 USD (in Switzerland). There was not much difference in quality and price between the good year welted and blake ones, they have nice finishes and colors, but they are not quite everyday shoes. I hope they will not sell out before Yoox will have some 20% off coupons.

Not really impressed with these on Yoox, you can find better deals for those money.

This french shop has some on sale (with better pics). The top of the line may be comparable with Santoni.

E has some great seconds on closeout. You can get them from the AE Shoebank ((262) 785-6666). Shipping is free.

Included are the Yuma bison leather boots for $77, with free shipping, from the AE Shoebank. Here's a link to the AE site so you can see what they look like: http://www.allenedmonds.com/aeonline/producti_SF43434_1_40000000001_-1 Note: These boots are made in the DR, not in Port Washington, and have a Vibram sole.

Also on sale are the Amok , a suede chukka, for $99.50 (see it here: http://www.allenedmonds.com/aeonlin...clCatGroupSearch=CUSTOM+SHOES&searchTerm=amok)

and the Malvern, also a chukka, available in calf or suede, for $129. See it here: http://www.allenedmonds.com/aeonline/producti_SF9161_1_40000000001_-1

Note that selection is TOTALLY size-dependent. Best to email them first, and they will send you a spreadsheet with prices and colors for shoes available in your size.

gilt.com has Florsheim by Duckie Brown shell longwings for 199. Use Extra25off for an extra 25% off.
If they don't have your size, put yourself on the waitlist. They will become available soon.

Edit- Here is a link to join if you are not a member:
    http://www.gilt.com/invite/deveandepot1

Edit- There looks to be 2 pairs of shell longwings. They look pretty similar. Only difference is the price $299 or $199.

Edit-The 25%off code only works for select accounts.

I called the Shoebank. They didn't have my size in stock, but they checked the inventory of all of their (presumably outlet) stores. When a pair was found in my size, they arranged to have it sent directly to me -- and still with free shipping. Can't beat that with a stick.

Are you sure they're shell? I don't see any mention of shell cordovan anywhere?

Which section is this under? I can't find it and it isn't under either dress shoes or leather goods?

Click on Today's Sale -> Florsheim by Duckie Brown

And I don't think they're shell.. they're using 'cordovan' as a color description.

I guess Navy, Cordovan, Dark Cherry, and Black Smooth are shell cordovan while Electric Blue, Cognac, Smooth Brown, and Black are calfskin.

Strange, it's not part of Today's sales for me. I have:

    Hickey Freeman
Shop It: Leather Belt, Boots, etc.
    Outerwear Blowout
    Puma
    Spring Preview
    Gant
    Velour
    Gilt Essentials
    Coat Rack
    Basics Shop

    ---

I wonder if different people see different things, or if you had to be on the waitlist from before to see them?
