fromjapan also lets you decide what they will put as the value of the item
I use EMS for all my fromjapan shipments. They've all been like $500+ and never been hit with customs.
Experience with Caliroots? expecting to get raped
Anyone been hit with charges when shopping with shopacrimony?
Ordered boots from Viberg last Friday, and they shipped Saturday (6/21). They made it into the US on 6/22 and have been in customs ever since. Has anyone else had this experience? I emailed Guy and he said that 5+ days in customs is not typical.
I've had stuff be stuck in customs for over a week.
+1 Stuff sits in SF
My record is a month and half, only time I've had to pay USPS for duties
A few times 1-2 weeks as well though typical wait is 2 days or so
Calling and asking also does nothing. If you are traveling best bet would probably ask your postman / woman to hold it? Pretty sure I didn't need to sign for my viberg
Depends on how it's shipped. Express shipping is usually 1-2 days in customs (I've had packages cleared on the same day before), while normal post can take 1-2 weeks or longer.
I am considering working with a bespoke tailoring company in Bangladesh for some custom made shirts and suits. Any idea on the best shipping carrier to use for shipping to and from the US? Additionally any idea on the cost for shipping a shirt or suit?
Anyone have experience with serie noire? they ship via dhl I believe.
Have customs charges gone up? I used to get hit when I got hit with ~10% every time. Now I'm getting with ~18%. Anyone else notice this recently?
Also, has anyone every had a package from the US Postal Service that had an invoice of sorts on the package that says "do not deliver until paid" yet it was just at my door? I've never been hit by the US Postal Service, ever, and they also haven't sent me a bill.
The percentage you get charged is based on what you buy.
Different items are charged at different rates. There is no flat percentage.
