1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Handing Bowl bids out like they're participation trophies.

what is even crazier is that schools accept these bids knowing that they may potentially lose money. i think it was a couple years ago where 15 or so schools reported a loss after they accounted for travel, ticket allotment, etc.

Yeah, because if you don't sell out your allotment, the school is on the hook to buy the rest. Which is stupid, because the schools aren't the one fixing the prices, so the bowls can charge obscene amounts and the school has to pay if people don't buy.

I think athletic departments "lose money" the way Hollywood studios do(n't).

Just last night the missus and I said The Onion should write a piece about 0-11 Southwestern Pennsyltucky Community College accepting a bid to the International Paper Participation Certificate Bowl.

Eh, it's more football and you don't have to watch it if you don't want so who cares?

And it isn't like anything out of the CFP matters anyway.

With that said I just bought my tickets for the Cure Bowl. Gonna go cure breast cancer while watching GSU win.

Someone should give Army and Navy props for a pretty decent football game. Also love to see the tradition and respect the programs have for each other.

Yeah. Would have been nice to see Army pull off the win. That said, Navy may have had the coolest helmets I've ever seen.

I liked the UCLA tribute to the navy seal 'frogmen', but I did really like the navy helmets.

WTF is going on at Texas A&M. Kyle Allen and Kyler Murray both transferring (first and second string QBs).

I fucking hate when we get paired up against a shitty non-power 5 team. Last time it was Northern Illinois, whose alleged Heisman contender quarterback (Jordan Lynch, who I'm pretty sure did my tire rotation last week) said, with a straight face, something to the effect of "I don't think Florida State has seen a team with our kind of speed all year."

Final score was 31-10, should've been worse. Houston should be more of a challenge, but still....I'll be surprised if it's close.

Feel your pain. I'll be huddled around my phone while I watch the cotton bowl at my sister's wedding.

A couple of my friends had to go to a NYE wedding last year. The wedding reception was supposed to roll into NY. They said it was awful since by 9pm everyone is practically wasted and no one wants to be there that long. But since they were part of the bridal shower they were forced to be there. It didn't help that the bride is a total bitch that no one likes.

They said even the photographer was like "I've never been to a wedding, NYE party, and a funeral all at the same time".
