USF has definitely gotten much better, but the talent pool in Florida is extraordinarily deep. That being the case, I would be surprised if USF's improvement has had any measurable impact on Miami, especially in light of the fact that UF and FSU aren't having any trouble pulling in top-notch recruiting classes.

Yeah, but Miami has sort of always been up and down like that. Contrast their glory days in the 80s/early 90s to the rest of the 90s, and it looks similar to the last decade or so, even down to the fact that they're seemingly constantly either being punished for a scandal or actively engaging in one.

Better question - if Tim Tebow were to create a storyline that he retired from the New York Jets to play for Brett Favre in a semipro league and the Tim Tebow and Brett Favre and the New York Jets all became great would you Tim Tebow? Or would you just Rex Ryan a New York Jet as you Favred off into the sunset with Tebow? Difficulty: Paterno.

The new UM president, Donna Shalalalalalalalala, has quite deliberately turned the focus at UM away from football and more towards academics. As a result, the school academics have improved, but football isn't really emphasized as much. I think the hiring of Al Golden as head coach is quite the illustration of that.

Moving to the ACC is when I think everything really started to fall apart. They were still winning bowl games until they left the Big East and became ACC also rans.

Actually, I think she taught the football team how to masturbate, and it has taken its toll on practice time.

I think the SEC gets dethroned this year. This is easily the best Oregon team of them all. They finally have a defense and with Darron Thomas gone, a QB that's a true run threat. What's scary for us non-Duck Pac12 fans is they will only get better... They played $cam Newton and Auburn to basically a draw with 3 star talent- now they are getting the pick of the litter of athletes.

^ I still think Oregon is vulnerable against an SEC style team. Their defense is better, but still looks a little soft at times (not just in garbage time, btw) - for instance, washington was able to run the ball effectively on them and Washingtons run game is average at best this year.

On offense, they (like everybody) would still struggle against a defense like LSU or Alabama that has just dominating physical D-line and a fast, hard-hitting back 7.

Not at all saying that this Oregon team isn't their best, but just think they might not be THAT much better than the past couple years.

I am a bit nervous about the A&M - LSU matchup today.

Odd aside, yesterday I was chatting with a fellow Aggie (recent grad) and I told her that my first college game was A&M - LSU, in '89, and that it started with LSU kicking off to A&M, who ran the kickoff back for a touchdown. R.C. Slocum was the new head coach - the successor to Jackie Sherrill. And who knows, here we are again at Kyle Field, and the Aggies again have a new head coach.

She tilted her head and said she couldn't remember her first Aggie game. Some people.

Meh, aub was a mediocre team that year aside from scam. He had to save their ass on a number of occasions and I think they even went into OT with Kentucky. I still think they'll get stuffed if they're up against the sec in the bcs game.

The history of football is littered with examples of high-powered offenses being stopped by stout defenses. If Oregon played Alabama during the regular season, they would have a good chance to win. Give Nick Saban three weeks to game plan, no way.

The history of college football is also littered with examples of teams everyone thought was unbeatable losing in the national championship game.
