The only thing I can think of is that Alonso ghosted in between Van Bommel and De Jong to get that ball, i.e. De Jong really didn't even see Alonso.

Let's just say, for argument's sake, that DeJong didn't see Alonso and was going for the ball.....who the hell kicks a football with a flying Kung Fu kick? I've never seen anyone clear the ball that way when an opposing player is not in sight.

He clearly saw Alonso and he clearly knew what he was doing.

I love the part at the end when he throws his hands up like he didn't do anything.

I get why you say the first sentence, but 'very happy' for a country/team you don't 'support'? If the Netherlands had won I would have still given my life a '5' in the appropriate threak.

i dont think the bflying kick was intentional tbh. It still deserves a red regardless though as its pretty reckless and borderline lunatic.

Theres no way he ment to do it, he gets a red there 99.99999% of the time.

That's pretty much how I feel. Obviously looking at the gif, it seems to appear intentional and there's absolutely no way to argue that it wasn't a red-card worthy offense. Still, I just can't think a player would so willingly screw his national side over by making them play a man down, especially so early. What a disgrace that would be for the player. Regardless whether or not I'm rooting for that team, I'll always give the player the benefit of the doubt - when the stakes are as high as they are and the consequences so severe, I just can't see someone of even mediocre intelligence making such a poor decision. Then again, Zidane in 2006...

That was pretty sick. I've never seen that goal before.

Yes, that's what he's capable of. It's a pity he wasn't in form this tournament.

Overall, this World Cup was highly entertaining for two reasons: Uruguay and Germany.

When I grow up, I want to be the backup keeper for the World Cup winning team:

The trainer of Spain, that good man that also won a Champion´s league with the Real and played on it two decades ago has a son with down´s sindrome. With the new abortist socialist law of Spain he won´t be there.
