I received my new Tricker’s today but am unsure about sizing for the Bourton. This Bourton is on the 2298 last but seems a bit loose even when tied as tightly as possible. To be fair my feet have a lower instep and low volume, I believe? UK 8.5 just like my 4497 Stow and Eaton that both fit well.

I have little doubt the 2298 boots would fit me fine, but I’m not sure what the solution is on the 2298 Bourton. Just get used to the loose loafer-like fit? Tongue pads? Go down 1/2 size? Or say that the 2298 Bourton just doesn’t work for me. I get that the heel slip may be reduced after breaking in the soles but am also concerned that the CXL stretching and breaking in could counteract that.

I am curious whether I would have these same issues with a 4444 last Bourton. Anyone know? I know to size down to a UK 8 for the 4444 last, but I’m not sure how the instep and overall fit would compare.

I think with a 4444 Bourton the issue will be even worse. Maybe try some insoles. I have some I use in Bourtons when wearing thin socks in the summer.

Those are really nice...as for size, 4444 is much more roomier than the 2298. The 2298 should fit like a snug 4497 not looser, my new Durham on a 2298 have no heel slip while my Bourton 4444 are a 1/2 size down and still too roomy, needing thicker socks with a fair amount of heel slip.

I'd be curious if on the off chance a normal Bourton 4444 last wasn't inadvertently used as a 2298 should be a pretty good fit.?????

As per Division Road on the 2298.
"A slightly narrower width in the forefoot, with a more snug waist and heel than the 4497s,"

As per Tricker's
"LAST No: 4444
These are a generous fit and therefore typically larger by half a size. So, if you normally take a UK size 8, we recommend you try a size 7½."

@Erikdayo this is exactly the same for me as what rob80 is saying. Are those the burnished coffee Eatons from DR? Those are awesome. I'm hoping to bag them this year on the Boxing Day sale - should have snapped them up last year.

Edit - yes I just saw these are the DRs collabs from the above posts I didn't read the first time. Damn those are nice! ?

@Olderfellow i see your laces and I raise ye a medallion sir!
Was told that this is the underside of the leather and not a fault. So it’s not that it’s not been punched properly, not at all and don’t you suggest it!

Coffee eatons are sweet. @zippyh and I were debating our sanity as we have multiple brown Eatons!! I also have all three kudu colours. The caramel I did as a single then subsequently a group and the sign the same…

I don't think these are on the wrong last, but I guess I don't know enough to really identify that for you. I would say that these shoes look to be a very similar shape to my 4497 boots but with an elongated toe.

Also, I should note that they seem to fit without much slip with medium weight socks rather than thin socks. The same sort I wear with my boots. But I am still concerned about the quarters being fully closed without having worn them as I know I tend to tie the quarters a little tighter on my boots after a few wears compared to brand new.

DR told me that some people that have a roomier fit with Tricker's boots actually go 1/2 size down for their 2298 lasted Bourton. Based on what I am experiencing I believe it, but I am concerned that going down 1/2 a size would result in my pinky toes getting squished as the overall fit for my foot in UK 8.5 on the 4497 and 2298 seems just right.

I think that’s contrary to advice I’d give but as I’ve said to you your feet are your feet so what works for you but generally I’d suggest half up if anything. Probably why lots of DR pairs appear on Grailed! ?
