I did notice the outlet has a pair of burgundy cordovan Bobby’s although they look like they’ve been knocked around a bit and it’s debatable if the marks would come out.

Are Bobby’s a snugger fit than 4497s?

I don't think I like them much, either. They are made of shrunken grain. When I enlarged the photo, it looked pretty horrible. I do like the pale welts, though, too.

It is often a bad sign when, in a sale, all sizes are available. :(

Quite often they will use leather up and make a whole batch. The shrunken hides are supposed to be really comfortable but I have a grey suede pair and they don’t get much rotation although they do look better on than off as would the ones you’ve tagged I suppose.

2298 is snugger but cordovan is slightly harder to last so can have a little more room, I can wear the ones I got in this sale no problem.

Didn't follow what you mean by no taxes and fees? You mean that shipping worked fine after Tricker's removed UK taxes and fees, or do you mean that you avoided paying any extra fees in your country of receipt?
Hmh, neither nor, to be precise, but more of the latter. I paid the price shown in the UK/EU shop (including GB VAT! though it was an export to the EU) and the parcel, handled by DHL Express, went through customs without any extra fees or my countries taxes added. Tricker's did this on purpose (letting me pay the price including UK VAT) and their promise, that this way I would not have to pay my countries taxes or any extra handling fees became true. Only downside: the parcels handling at my countries customs took more than a week.

A few weeks earlier I had ordered from another store in the UK which handled things in a different way - letting me pay their UK price minus GB VAT only - and which also shipped via DHL Express. It turned out that this kind of handling resulted in some unexpected extra costs. Besides the (expected) taxes of my country I also had to pay some additional handling fees by DHL which resulted in an end price which actually was quite a bit higher than the original UK price.

So Tricker's way of handling things is actually way better. I paid exactly the price shown in their (UK/EU) shop. That's it.

Also recommendable btw is Herrings shop. They use a third method and let you pay their price shown in the shop/shopping cart and add all taxes for your country and handling fees in advance before the final checkout. This way you also know the exact amount you have to pay in advance. Worked out totally fine too and I did not have to pay any additional fees later on. And: this order arrived much faster than Tricker's as things obviously went way smoother at my countries customs (took only 2 days).

Collection keeps growing - but as with most kinds of pets: just one, lonely pair of Stows simply doesn't work, no?

PS importing to the EU without taxes and fees worked out fine, just as promised by Tricker's
Nice shade of green. Where are these from?

Cheers, I was slightly tempted but some of the marks look quite bad and I'm not convinced they would buff out.

I also think I would realistically need half a size up.

In my experience I’m a 7.5 in 4444 and 4497 6 width, my couple of pairs on 2298 are snug in an 8, including a pair of cordovan Bobbys. I’d think you’d need to size up.

Hi, zikarus
Importing to the EU without taxes and fees worked out fine? Could you tell me where Tricker's says that? I am an european costumer, but since Brexit I stopped buying from UK.
Thank you,

Can anyone help?

I think I about to order some boots in Gold MC. I am familiar with the MC bit as I have some Burgundy MC boots. But I am keen to get a colour reference in comparison to C-Shade (and acorn maybe). It looks similar. I cannot find a photo that has Gold and C-Shade in the same shot? Can anyone help with a quick comparison snap??

Or maybe some can just tell me if it is lighter/darker, redder etc.

Thanks in advance.

I’m home and bored so will oblige when I corral the troops! I love Gold Mc and did consider an Eaton mto in it but got diverted onto a different project...

I am a 10 on a 4444 and have to go up to 10.5 on the 2298. I do find that the cordovan bobby on 2298 is a little bigger in width than the 2298 calf (both 10.5).
