There’s just so many options, all appealing but you have to draw the line somewhere.

Plenty of time to come to a decision I suppose and enjoy what I already have.

Trickers factory has closed (temporarily) due to Coronavirus.
I have an mto in and messaged them to see if factory was closed (I thought it would be).
Was focusing on that arrival for a glimmer of hope!
Shoe Healer closed in line with guidelines for none essential shops. So mods out of the window too...

I owned Sargent veldts (Selkirk) a while back , nice profile but leather blackened when scuffed and I wouldn’t take a chance again on them . Trickers zug is top notch , ages beautifully .

Good to know, I’m still tempted to pick up a pair of Ilkleys at some point.

I fancied another Eaton

went caramel kudu
No medallion
Polo tongue
Green lining and pull loops
Coffee binding
Brass eyelets
Tan welt white stitching
Double JR leather sole..

getting brass toe plate added straight away.

was hoping it’d be here next month but alas will be months away now.

Naster MC calf is really soft, little bit like cxl leather.
That’s essentially an Eaton shoe. Nice looking shoe that.

How soft is soft, compared to my calf stows for example? I prefer a stiffness in a shoe, similar my to old Dack's.

The shoe will be of equal stiffness structurally but the leather in my opinion is far softer.

That is a good deal. I have seen a few of these that didn’t get blackening of the leather but I appreciate not wanting to take the risk. Very nicely made and great last shape.

I could be wrong but I think most of the zug currently used is all from Horween. It may be that different makers apply different finishing to it after making the shoe.

The Cheaney veldts are a different leather which isn’t classed as zug I believe. Very nice leather though.
