Terrible description, too. Looks like Dainite, not Commando sole.

Anyone who likes these would be much better off contacting Richard and doing an MTO.

Thanks, MM. I wasn't willing to do that, as I planned to return them.

Besides the last, I would not put anyone off from buying these off STP. They are really nice, and with a code you can get them for ~$250. They are just not what I am looking for at the moment, which is a sleeker, dressier shoe.

Anyone heard from Dave from the RE Trickers ebay store? The last notice they had up was closed due to illness. I hope it's not serious for whomever is sick.

I'll probably be in if it's on the 2298. I would lean toward the Eaton.

    Dear All,

I had a group MTO completed by Richard at The Shoe Healer recently, The Ultimate Desert Boot ... pictures attached. Well, unfortunately I had a problem with mine (the boot split). Just one of those things .... the important thing is how everyone responded.

First of all Richard was as devastated as me. He had them collected ASAP and returned them to the factory, no quibbles.

Secondly, Tricker's were extremely sorry. Hands up, their fault. They made up a replacement pair ... again no quibbles. And they did it in three weeks!

I have just received them from Richard (including an added bonus ... thank you for your generosity, Sir). They somehow look better than the originals. And careful inspection reveals them to be a little more robust around the area where the originals split.

So, a disappointment followed by exemplary customer service.

We all love Tricker's ... or we wouldn't be on here. And we all consider Richard and Shoe Healer to be the best at what they do. I just wanted to make the point that they are both even better than we thought.

Thank you Tricker's for putting things right.

Thank you Richard for setting he highest standards in the business ... your level of customer support is unsurpassed and an example to everyone else of how it should be done.

    MM

Those look awesome! It's great to hear how well the situation was handled by both Richard and Tricker's.

Fantastic boots! Wish I had a pair of those! Richard's professionalism is unsurpassed, and glad to hear Tricker's took care of you so well.

I do have some pictures but, to be honest, as I have been so well looked after I don't really want to post them, lest they get used out of context by someone else.

But I can tell you that they split along the outside quarter panel seam, just back from the facing .... a tear of about 4cm in length.

The replacements feel as though they have more overlap ... i.e. they shouldn't be stitched through the skived part of the hide, which might have been the cause of the problem last time ... or it might just have been a weakness in the leather, of course. I am not pointing fingers!

    Best,
    MM

They are fantastic boots ... I am really happy how they turned out.

I think that Richard has one pair left ... but in a size 7 1/2. However, I know that he has commissioned another run in a different colour .... he might have some available in your size. Here are the details:

Tricker's Burford - Ultimate Desert Boot

    Last: 4497s.
    Colour: Chocolate Repello Suede.
    Lining: Orange Calf Lining.
    Pull Loops: Orange Pull Loops.
Eyelets: Brass Eyelets with Top Three Speedhooks in Brass.
    Laces: Leather Laces.
Welt: Barbour Welt in Natural Finish.
    Sole: Dainite Sole in Orange.

If I could afford another pair I would definitely go for these too!

    MM
