1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Or if you happen to have a pair of shoe trees handy, put a couple of pairs of socks on before you put them in the boots and leave them with the laces tied between the first few wears. Not sure that's a SF-approved way of doing it, but it helps if a good shop isn't so easy to get to.

I also snapped up an eBay bargain myself, hopefully they'll arrive by the end of the week!

I've done that before with shoes that just needed a little loosening up.

I'm sure this is covered elsewhere, so apologies, but the beat way to deal with a deep scuff like this?

I would guess glue it down, and carry on as normal but open to suggestions.

I did something like that once.
I carefully glued it down with super glue, let it dry, then polished.
Seems to be okay and hardly visible.

There's been a thread or two about this in the classic menswear forum.

During my last mto, Richard was kind enough to take a picture of different suede swatches.

From left to right, maracca, copper, golden tan, highland fox, and curry. I settled on the highland fox.

Well done - Highland Fox is clearly the correct choice.

    What was your MTO?

I wanted a tobacco suede cap toe derby similar to the one in this AA picture.

Richard was somehow able to get that style on a 6038L last for me; here are the final specs.

One pair of (as) Waterloo, Plain Cap Toe Derby with Single Row of Punching on the Toe Cap.
    Last, 6038L.
    UK Size 10 1/2, fitting 6.
    Colour, Highland Fox Suede.
    Lining, Vintage Green Calf Lining.
    Eyelets, Blind Eyelets.
    Laces, Dark Brown Laces.
Welt, 270 Degree Flat Welt in Dark Brown Finish.
Sole, Double Leather Sole but with ‘Forepart Thru’ only, and Closed Channel Stitching.

The "forepart thru" is Trickers way of describing a double to single leather or haf sole.
