Hey all, I bought this (new) pair of Bourtons on eBay but the seller did not have the box or any information on the factory color of the shoes. I know it can be tough to venture a guess as to factory color without seeing the shoes in person, but any idea what color these might be? I’m thinking Marron, C Shade, or Beechnut, but I’m hoping one of our resident Tricker’s experts will be able to help me out and tell me with some certainty!

Hard from a photo due to lighting but if I had to guess I'd say C shade. I don't have beechnut although I'm sure it's more brown than tan. I have marron in front of me now and it's certainly different.

It would be easier to asses the colour, if you would show a picture of these Bourtons, which includes a white piece of paper. We could then do a white balance on the picture.
For example if the lighter parts of the carpets were white, the colour would look like this. This could be Marron if faded by sunlight.

Thanks to everyone who’s trying to help me with my mystery Bourtons. Here they are in a different light, with a sheet of paper, and next to my acorn Bourtons. They are fairly matte - I think the lighting in my earlier post was hitting them in a way that made them look shiny.

With a white balance on the paper, it looks like this. A bit cooler in colour temperature on the second picture for a different impression.

Probably faded Marron but I think so lesser than before, maybe Beechnut, I am not sure. Certainly not C-Shade as already mentioned, mostly because of the shine.

Let's see, what others think. 🍀

A marron that has lost its lustre and sheen, as if it was caught in a terrential downpour and lost its colour mojo. (Ofcourse the shoe is in great condition and is a stellar shoe)

It is a wonderful pair of shoes, but I was hoping for more of the reddish tones that marron usually has. Now the question becomes, do I buy a “real” pair of marron Bourtons? Aye this hobby 😂😐🫨

Maybe you can encourage them back to their original state with some shoe care. To be honest, they look very similar to mine in your 2nd photo. Below is mine on first wear. In the light they look like a tan but completely different at other times.

You can give them a treatment and get them to that reddish tone over time. They are nice shoes amigo.. enjoy them.
