I got those Burfords about 10 years ago from Sierra Trading Post. For those outside the US, they're an off-price retailer of mostly outdoors type goods. Think TJ Max for outdoors goods (they're owned by the same company).

They used to regularly have mysteriously sourced Tricker's. Things like Stow lookalike boots on the 2298. Tricker's had about zero presence in the USA which made them especially mysterious.

I have specifically checked this with Trickers, Pediwear and also Richard at the Shoe Room when I purchased my Stows. All of them have clearly said not to since it is likely to remove burnishing.

I therefore used Nappa leather balm for conditioning which is much milder and does not alter colour in any way. My burnished Chestnut Stows came out fine after this along with Saphir shoe cream and neutral wax. You can check my immediately earlier post where you can see the burnishing is absolutely intact.

I can confirm the Renovateur point, from experience. Some years ago I managed to take all the burnishing off a pair of tan Loake brogues. :(
