Those aren't Stows and they're not size 8.5.
They're the Not-Stows from Sierra Trading Post on the W2298 last.
If they were size 8.5, they be marked 8 1/2. The 5 indicates regular width.

These are UK8.5, the boot is marked 9, 5 to indicate a US sizing.

These were sold to me as Stows and having owned a couple of pairs of stows, there is no difference in the boots apart from these having a flat welt as opposed to a storm welt. They are marked m7395 - not sure if this is the last number or the style number.

M7395 is the style number of the Not-Stows from STP. I just checked my pair.
Look at what's written on the box.

I'd be surprised if that's US sizing.

Box says brogue boot style M7395.

Can someone in the know tell me how these differ from the stows? They look and fit like a stow.

Stow last is usually 4497, sometimes 4444. If you put the not-Stow next to a 4497 Stow, they are clearly are different lasts. Also do not post your listing directly in the thread, that is what B&S is for.

    I would guess Stow (L) and Not-Stow (R).

    Thanks.

The not stows seem a little narrower - not sure if this is because of the lack of a storm welt.

Richard the Shoehealer himself posted about the Not Stows a while ago.

Want to buy my first quality boots, any chance there us a place I can get these ones: http://www.my-wardrobe.com/trickers/black-commando-brogue-stow-boots-978320

Want to use them in winter so commando sole is a must I think. Really like the contrast between sole and upper part but unfortunately haven't found this combination in major online stores (there were a list somewhere earlier in theme). Don't mind buying maybe not a black one, but a shade of brown. Newbie so not sure how to properly search for it. Also not sure about the size since but generally I wear 9 UK / 10 US.

Thanks in advance for any help.

End Clothing has several different Stows on a commando sole, and I think The Bureau Belfast has at least one. Hopefully you'll find one you like. Welcome to the thread!
