This question doesn't fit in anywhere easily, so I will ask it here. All of my shoes are size 8.5 or 9 and in regular fittings. All of them need to have insoles in them. With almost all of them, the facings touch or nearly touch, when laced. Would narrower shoes solve this problem? Or do I have flat or 'thin' feet? With kind regards, Munky

I feel like my tastes are a little too loud for many to get on board with for a MTO...

I was thinking a Bourton 4444 on a Vibram Christy 4014...
Flint kudu+some kind of black leather on the upper, red calf lining.

A little unorthodox, but if anyone might be interested, let me know!

I'm not too keen on the Vibram sole. I wouldn't mind doing a shoe though if that's what the majority wants.

I would also rather avoid any crazy linings so we can avoid a binding :)

Let me know what you guys think!

It would suite a Bourton on a chunky sole line Risgeway. Not sure on the Christy . I was proposing for discussion purposes..
I’ve just sent a couple of single mto in...🥊

Sounds like you have a low instep and possibly a narrower foot. I have had similar issues as my instep is low (arch is normal), heal is narrow and toes are fairly wide.

For Trickers 4444 and 4497S I just wear thicker socks. One ray of hope with Trickers is that Division Road are pushing for a 4497S franken-last that is width 4 in the heal and width 5 in the toe-box. Not sure how realistic the chances are of Trickers agreeing to do this.

For non-country shoes and boots I decided to get custom lasts made. I now have one for EB and am in process with StC. Check out my postings for a detailed breakdown of both experiences. TL;DR I strongly recommend both, it is cheap to get the custom last made and it makes an enormous difference having shoes that actually fit, the EB process takes months, the StC process is a few weeks.

Thank you very much for that, Mallaig, it is very useful and sounds right on the mark. My instep is low but I'm not flat footed. And, as you suggest, my heel is narrow but my toes are fairly wide. I am about to order a pair of shoes from Crown and they tell me that they can make them for me on a narrower last. I think I will go for this option. I worry that if I got custom made lasts, they would just encourage me to buy more shoes! Thanks, again, Munky.
