The Daniel looks good. I would consider it in peanut if I saw it on sale and I was in the market.

Unfortunately Tricker’s didn’t get it right with the Monty. I thought it looked good, but it kept slipping off my feet. I just want shoes to look good, fit well and I can forget about them. 🙂
If it is of any use to you, I posted my Peanut Reverse Kudu Derbys for sale on buy/sell. They are size 8.5UK.
I'm based in California so probably not worth shipping to the UK.

So here’s how those Kensington’s I got for a song came out:
Unfortunately they are a bit small for me, I was under the impression that they’re a 9.5 UK but the seem like a 9.5 US.

anyone want to make an offer on them before they end up on EBay? I’d also be up for trade in something a touch bigger.

Thank you for the reply. Very nice. Excellent condition. They appear to be a Robert or similar. However, I’m not in the market right now. 🙂

I tweaked my Bourtons (EDIT: They're Ilkleys actually...) a little bit. They are basically an excellent fit, but slightly too roomy over the instep.
So I cut up some extra thick oiltan leather (actually, a false tongue a.k.a. kiltie from a pair of White's Smokejumpers) to make some inserts that slip right into the Bourton's gusset tongues. They take up just enough excess volume and don't move around as they're held in place by the gusset.

So, tenuously related to my Trickers Stows that have ski hooks for the last three lace holes. I appreciated the facility of the ski hooks and sent my Grenson Triple Welt Freds to The Shoe Healer to have both ski hooks and toe tips fitted. They had them for just over a week and were returned today. I'm very pleased with the work and this is just by way of further endorsing the recommendations of others for this repairer. Thank you for your recommendations.

How do you feel about spending money on non-essential goods during the Covid-19 crisis?

  • I don't want to spend money at a time of economic uncertainty, even if I could afford it.

  • I feel compelled to spend to help small businesses that are struggling.

  • I reduced my budget for non-essential goods and I'm not spending at the moment.

  • Not much has changed for me and I'm still buying stuff I can't afford.
