Trickers doesn't exclusively use horween for shell - they've used a Portuguese tannery as well iirc.

that's not to say those aren't horween.

Got my first pair of trickers. Tried walking the whole day to break them in, instead, they broke my feet! I got blisters on both my pinky toes from wearing them. I feel like there's still room lengthwise, but are a bit tight on the sides. Did I size down too much, or should I break them in more? I'm walking with a limp now...

You may indeed have fit issues but as a rule I never attempt to break in a brand new pair of heavy welted shoes or boots like Trickers by wearing them for a full day at a time.

Rather I try to break them in gently bit by bit, perhaps by wearing them around the office for a morning, and then having a change for the afternoon, and so on for a number of weeks before attempting longer treks in them. Also applying a shoe cream like Saphir Renovatour can soften up the leather a bit and help break in the shoe.

I have found this a relatively pain free way in breaking in Church's Grafton heavy storm welted model for instance which I have on both leather and dainite soles, although I do find the dainite sole is stiffer and less comfortable than the leather sole version.

I could never get my feet to fit in stows.
Aldens are a much easier wear.
Not that it will probably keep me from buying a pair of Tricker's sometime in the future...

They use Horween for the more regular colours and other sources (Argentina, etc) for odd ones.
