Today my trusty Bedale comes back from a minor repair at the tailors. I’ll be attempting to re-wax it tonight ahead of a trip to Skye. I’d have sent it away but left it too late, and with covid I don’t know how long I’d be without it!

Just take your time, less is more and use a hairdryer to melt the wax into the cotton. Then a cloth to mop up any excess around the buttons and seams.

Seemed to go just fine. Kept wax in a pot of hot water to keep it liquid. Used a sponge to push it into the fabric and move it around and a cloth to buff off any excess that was accumulating around seams etc.

as you say, less is more. No idea how some people say it takes a whole tin for a jacket, I used a about 1/3rd of the tin and felt the coverage was generous!

I have been wearing my navy Dalkeith pretty much every day since I got it back from having the sleeves shortened. I know most prefer the olive color, but the navy is the perfect hybrid for work.

On colours: I picked up a brown Beaufort a few months ago and initially worried that I had made a mistake by not holding out for a green one, but it's grown on me enough to hunt down a brown tweed cap to go with it.

On re-waxing: Don't anyone know how best to obtain a can of Barbour wax in Canada?

My girlfriend’s mum bought this for me the other day. Rather nice of her!

i wouldn’t have paid the RRP personally though. Maybe if it was a more “daily driver” coat and not so niche. But I wore it yesterday for the first time and I was dry right down to my calves.

I’m sure you can find one somewhere. If you can, go true to to size or one size down. I usually wear a 40 but this a 38 just because it’s a baggy jacket. Sleeves are too short for my personal preference though, so I’m going to get them extended soon.

Greetings fellow Barbour enthusiasts! I'm torn between getting a Corbridge or the International slim and the only feature drawing me towards the Corbridge are the hand pockets behind the lower bellows pockets, otherwise I really prefer the belted waist of the International. To anyone who has an International: how comfortable/convenient is it to use the outer pockets for resting your hands in? I'm so used to having a jacket with convenient hand pockets that I'm worried I'll feel lost without! There is nowhere nearby that stocks both of these jackets and trying clothes on is restricted in many stores at the moment anyway.

international is a cooler jacket but not as warm as the corbridge. I found it very comfortable to rest my hands in an international.

Thanks for the reply. If they made only one style of jacket I could easily say "yep, I'll buy that" , but the choice available makes it an absolute minefield. I spent most of lastnight browsing their entire catalogue of wax jackets all over again I've a feeling I'm going to be pondering this for another couple of weeks! I've been soaking up all of your Wax & Tartans videos too ?

Does Barbour make wax style jackets without the wax? I like the style but the wax isn’t necessary where I live and I prefer not to get the quilted jackets.

I think you could get it and just not rewax it...a year or two of regular wear and it should be pretty dewaxed
