How accurate are the measurements for the Classic Bedale on Country Attire? Trying to figure out my size, I'm a 38" chest, 24" sleeve length (from shoulder), 158 lbs and 5'8. From the measurements on the site I think I can fit into a 34"? or maybe a 32"? I'm not sure :(

Go TTS if you want layer it over sport coats, if not size one down from regular suit size.

There is a lot of chest tolerance in the classic Barbours, so keep that in mind. The jacket has to fit your shoulders as well...

Great thread. I'm stuck as to whether to get the Ashby, a size down Bedale or the Longhurst. I have a few questions if any of you experts are able to help.

Is it possible to attach a hood to the Ashby even if it doesn't come with one? It seems a bit pointless to get a waxed, waterproof jacket and let your head get wet, especially in rainy England. As far as I can tell from pictures, it's not possible but can anyone confirm? It's the only thing putting me off the Ashby.

What's the fit like on the Longhurst? Is it a slimmer fit like the Ashby? Is it longer than the Bedale?

And lastly, is it me or is this bedale a slimmer fit than the standard bedale? And anyone know what summer wax cotton is?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

The Ashby does have studs under the collar for hood attachment. It is a great style, have it myself in olive.

Another slim option would be the SL Bedale, of which End. has a couple of sizes in stock (at least sage and navy colourways):

Thanks for the info, my suit size is a 38S. I guess I'll go with a 36". I hope it fits!

If you've got short arms and aren't too broad in the shoulders you might get away with a 34, but a 36 is probably about right.

I'm looking to buy my first Barbour and can't decide what to get. The Stratus has really caught my eye but I'm not sure if it's what i want. I don't want anything too long which the Stratus doesn't seem to be, but the hood isn't removable which I'm uncertain about. Not sure what i'm asking really. Maybe someone can offer suggestions on somethgin similar but more in line with the classic Barbours?

I'm around your size. Little shorter and little lighter right now. If you go back in the pics in this thread I have on a 36 Beaufort. The sleeves could be a little longer for me and I am only 5'5". I typically wear 15-32 or 33 shirts depending on the brand. I'm not sure I could go with anything smaller. Dave_SFU has gone with smaller sizes and he is somewhere around our build.

Does Barbour repair ToKiTo too? I guess wax proofing can be done but I am not sure if they can fix the thinning of waist cord and fraying at the end of sleeves.

I've got the opportunity on a business trip to check out either the NH Outlet or the ME Outlet. I'll probably go to the ME Outlet because there are other things around it.

Has anyone on here been to either one?

I'm in need of a Bedale in a 48 (I'm a big dude) in Navy (or possibly any other color). I suppose I like the fact that the rear opens so I don't have to unzip to sit down.

    Any info is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

Thanks guys. I think I'll try the warm pile liner. I thought the only liner was the quilted vest for some reason.

    Hi guys

How does my Barbour Bedale fit? The Barbour store didn't have it in my preferred size, but this size should work.

Edit: Please ignore the skinny jeans, I was just trying on some old jeans that has been in my closet for years.

And if someone is wondering: I am 5'7'', 136 lbs and have a 37.5'' chest. This is size 34''.

I think there are a few people in here that have been to both. First that comes to mind is Dave_SFU and maybe patrick_b.

I think there is an Orvis outlet next to the Barbour one in ME that you might be able to score some stuff too. I have not been up to ME in about 10 years, so nothing useful to say here.

If any of you guys are size 38 or 40 and looking for a green Barbour, check out the limited edition Flyweight Beaufort I just listed:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/300968013908

It is brand new and the classic green waxed cotton with limited edition green corduroy collar will turn heads. Just different enough to stand out from the green/brown crowd.

I appreciate the heads up. I should probably just give them a call when I'm up in Mass. I would tend to think that the Kittery one could be picked over because of the closeness of other outlets. However, if they have the highest volume...maybe they're have the most inventory. I dunno...the Orvis outlet right by does sweeten the Kittery pot along with the Allen Edmonds up in Freeport.

I'm excited to buy my first Barbour. I'm relatively difficult to fit...but have tried on the Bedale size 48 @ The Hound in San Fran. They had one of the largest Barbour selections I've ever seen.
