Hi. Been lurking for a while. I wanted find out what you guys would do with this suit. It fits me very well... otherwise I might not bother. So I have a lot of questions but to get some objective feedback..

General thoughts on the suit? Obviously thrifted it. Pretty sure it's dark dark blue and had just faded a little.. but it almost looks charcoal.

More importantly, what would you wear with it, particularly if you were trying to tone it down for a wedding? I will say I hate the red/white/blue thing so I would be pretty against the idea of a white shirt and/or pocket square.

Thanks!

At first blush, it looks dated. Probably something like early 90's, or older. This is based on the fact that the gorge is quite low (the location of the notch, or where the lapel meets the notch), the fabric looks quite stiff, and the red/blue pinstripe combination is not very common these days, and much more in line with suits I find at thrift stores. Quite frankly, I believe you can do better than this one, even via thrifting. I would suggest taking pics of you wearing it, because unless it fits like a dream, I would say cut your losses now before putting more money into either altering it, or buying things to coordinate with it.

As well, nothing comes to mind in terms of complementing colours. Having both primary colours restricts the choice of palettes. In fact, with a fabric like that, it's about as toned down as you can possibly get, and the objective would be to liven it up instead.
