Odd-colored oxfords

They're not all oxfords, technically. Still, what are people's opinions of these from a technical standpoint, ie construction, materials, and silhouette?

***If those who abhor this trend would keep their comments to a minimum, I think those of us who are interested in the style would appreciate it. Please don't bury helpful advice with vitriol, as so much of SF is wont to do.***

Raf just did some good ones this Spring. I like a lot of the colors that they use for Repetto oxfords. Wouldn't buy them, they're a little too Kindergarten Runway for me (same reason I stay away from designer backpacks), but I appreciate them on others.

I don't get the point of ragging on the "quality" of a pair of pink oxfords when you aren't going to be wearing them regularly.

Also I think a Thomas Jefferson impersonator might have hacked your post and added some stuff in italics, you might as well strike it or at least change it to wording consistent with the century we live in, no big deal of course but you can't just let these guys have their way with everything.

I have McNairy LL Bucks - the camel oxford with red brick. They are made in England by Sanders and the construction on mine seem pretty good (full leather lining, welted construction, good symmetry), although the red sole is pretty lightweight and I am used to a somewhat heavier shoe. I've only gotten them recently, but so far so good - I like the silhouette better than BB and some of the other brands I looked at. They are sized a bit larger - I wear an 8US in the Alden Barrie last and also an 8US in these.

Never held the Walk-Overs, but thought the nose of the shoe looked a bit long on the web and couldn't find a decent photo showing another angle. I've heard they are nice though, and historically, the king of the USA Buck scene...

I looked closely at a bunch of Walk-Overs today at a new shop at 41st and 6th (used to be a sneakerhead shop, now "workwear" -- about 1 year too late but whatever). Price -- 225 -- is on point, I think, maybe a smidge too high. But they are US made. I might go back and try on a pair.

I don't think they're a particularly graceful shoe. The triple-stitched vamp looks a little clunky and the toe box looks a little long.

I'm by no means a shoe expert but quality-wise I'd put them well below McNairy, about par with Duckie Brown/Florsheim (which I checked out in SoHo last week).

Having said all that, they might work well for some people. I know they've made a big marketing push this year. They're owned by H.H. Brown, which is a Berkshire Hathaway company for you Buffett fans. (Warren, not Jimmy).

edit: Duckie Brown/Florsheim shoes just LOOK better. They had a pair of sweet blue suede longwings that said "buy me." My bank account said "No."
