The only thing I saw that could be interpreted as remotely 'controversial' was that someone segued somewhat into a tangential discussion about different societies' views regarding what age constitutes a reasonable age of consent; there seemed to be some reaction to that, as though the poster was suggesting that 'c**** p***' was merely an arbitrary social construct or something like that. Didn't come off that way to me, personally, but I guess I was actually reading it.

Refusing to discuss a problem just because it happens to be hellacious does nothing to help solve it....

I don't know why the thread was deleted, but I fail to see how discussing it on a clothing forum helps solve it, either.

By heightening awareness, and provoking thought about how one might impact the situation?

Nah, just let 'The Government' solve the problem. Or 'Society' -- you know, those people... out there... somewhere.

Possibly J thought it over, and concluded that he did not want Style Forum to pop up when someone Googled the phrase "ch*** por********" Can you blame him?

EDIT: Good point raised by Margaret and Lucky Strike. Silly me.

Actually, doesn't sound very likely to me, but I've edited my post nonetheless.

Even then, it's not as if this forum would get into trouble for discussing this unfortunate problem, especially when discussed at a reasonable level with an attempt to educate and engender awareness of the dangers of the internet.

Having missed the thread I don't know what was being discussed. It would seem to me that child porn is an issue that doesn't need alot of discussion. I mean, what is there to argue about. No reasonable person would disagree that it BAD.

If the mod's were a little quick on the trigger...cut them some slack. This forum is moderated almost to perfection....especially when compared to others.

I would hope that the level of discourse on this forum would be higher than that. I think you are missing the point. The thread wasn't meant for trivialization or equivocation; rather, it was trying to create an open dialogue for engendering some solutions for combating child pornography. We all agree that it is despicable, no question.
