Is this an Oxxford suit? Any thoughts as to the maker? Looks nice
No PS, No shirt cuff show and dat shiny blue tie.
...no clue. Congrat's to him though.
It looks shiny but it's probably the lighting. Forget PS and cuffs, he is a politician
Obama is known to wear Hart Schaffner & Marx (based in his native Chicago).
As is Oxxford
He's not wearing Oxxford.
I have it under good authority that Martin Greenfield in Brooklyn has made all of president Obama's suits for the past few years.
I don't think he's going to be buying them for long. They closed a HF / HSM store in st. Augustine, and I've been told by other suit retailers they're filing to go down the tube. Check of HSM site -- they have 7 suits and 5 SCs in their online catalog. HF doesn't have much more.
I am convinced that Obama has a monochromatic closet full of all the same navy suits. He had a navy suit on at all the debates and actually every time I see him on the news ( where he is suited up ). The only thing that changes are the ties, and his taste in ties is a pinch dull. Is it against political rules for our president to be a little more forward and dapper.
From a Vanity Fair article on Obama
“You’ll see I wear only gray or blue suits,” he said. “I’m trying to pare down decisions. I don’t want to make decisions about what I’m eating or wearing. Because I have too many other decisions to make.” He mentioned research that shows the simple act of making decisions degrades one’s ability to make further decisions. It’s why shopping is so exhausting. “You need to focus your decision-making energy. You need to routinize yourself. You can’t be going through the day distracted by trivia.”
Like most presidents - his suits are nice, but boring.
Perhaps understandably, he omits to mention that it would be political suicide for him to wear anything but dreary grey or blue outfits. His backtracking on the wearing of flag lapel pins being the most disturbing expression of this.
He looks like a politician!
Seriously though, that suit fits very nicely. Our politicians here should learn...
Boring or not, this suit fits him so. much. better. than most of his other suits over the last several years. I'm a huge fan.
Actually, that's a great point about Martin Greenfield--that could explain the dramatic change in fit. I know he used to wear HSM, but if he switched to Greenfield, it would stand to reason that those suits would fit a great deal better...
