Well then, this helps narrow things down. Nothing flasher than what's he's wearing at his inauguration ball.

He's lucky that HSM doesn't suck. Good choice.

What the hell's he wearing in the attached photo? It looks like he's trying to do white tie without a vest and in a regular turndown-collar shirt with buttons!

I should have thought white tie rather than a "tux" was requisite for the inaugural balls. Didn't Manton once do an article about that in reference to W.'s first inauguration?

That was the Al Smith dinner. That may be his 15 year old tux or a rental.

Good man.

Having President B wearing any of the Italian stuff would just be wrong in this environment. As already said, HSM is not bad. It's all about the fit/tailoring anyway.

Sorry Bijan. There is no reason he can't wear Ralph Lauren. Brooks Brothers or even Tom Ford (I say TF runs for office in 2012).

There are lots of union made American tuxedo's out there. How about Oxxford for the Chicago economy? Hickey Freeman?

Tom Ford's are made in Italy as are RL's.

Homi Patel, president, chairman and chief executive officer of parent Hartmarx Corp. said he is working with the President-elect's staff to determine whether Obama will wear a suit with a topcoat to the inauguration ceremony.
Whether he wears a suit and top coat? What else would he wear?

I certainly don't suppose he would wear proper morning dress.

HSM owns Hickey Freeman. During the campaign, it was reported that he was wearing a custom HSM suit for his big speech....however, the MSRP quoted was $1500, putting it in Hickey territory. They probably make him something to HF specs but then call it HSM so he doesn't come off as elitist.

There had been discussion about what he wore before HSM earlier in the year I believe, and for some reason I remember people saying Oxxford or something. But I was just in the Canali store in South Coast and they had this big, promotional board boasting that Obama was wearing their clothing.
