Any fans here? I know in certain 'elite' circles this band is considered trite and rubbish, but I really rather liked the basic rock and roll edge that they both posessed and professed. I was sad to hear that Noel Gallagher had left the band but am confident he will at some point produce some good solo material, as Paul Weller of the Jam has done.

I like it. Also The Verve, which I discovered (outside of Bitersweet Symphony) just last week.

No to pretty much everything you said here, other than the band ebing considered trite and rubbish, and just not in elite circles. There are plenty of beatles tribute bands that sound better than Oasis and at least admit what they are.

You are not very bright but at least you try to fit in with the self aggrandizing 'elite' circles.

I like them too, 'The Rolling People' is a particularly good take on 'The Four Horsemen' by Aphrodite's Child.

I like them but I've never agreed with the their studio sound after their second album; heavy distortion, overtones, too many musical lines (think All Around the World), etc...

Is Noel back yet?

Love the first 2 efforts, after that turned into another mediocre Brit-pop-indie band

But in general I was always more in the Blur camp rather than Oasis when they had their little rivalry back then

for me, Blur > Oasis, but Oasis' best songs > Blur's best songs

The b-sides compilation "The Masterplan" is also great.

You might like The Soundtrack of Our Lives. Noel's favorite band from which to "borrow"

When they were good, they were quite good. I still spin a few of their tracks now and then. "Live Forever" is one of my faves.

Anything besides What's the story is unlistenable for me.
