Does anyone know if back-ordered shoe charges appear on my bill when the shoe is in stock and ships, or as a pre-order? Since they don't ship for 6 weeks I was hoping my card will be charged once they hit stock. Right now I am assuming I will be charged right away. I'm going to hold off on placing the order until I get confirmation, can anybody who has placed a pre-order let me know? Also, I thought I had read these run TTS. Did you size down a full size or half size? If i'm pre-ordering I want to get this right the first time. I'm normally a 9. Thanks
Go with your dress shoe size. Unless your foot is extremely wide you will not have a width issue. I wear 10.5 in Redwings, and the 10.5 Oak Streets fit like a dream. Also, your card will be charged at the time of the order. Let me know if there's anything else I can help you with.

Thanks. I actually already got my billing answer from George. He said they are basically being made to order right now and they need to be billed when the pre-order is made, for that reason and because their system does not allow for delayed billing (understandable)

Thanks for the size comparison as well. The confusion arose for me in the earlier post where someone said they sized down as they do with Alden. (I don't own any Alden so I don't know the comparison)

My foot is not wide, if anything a bit narrow. Since I can't try on the Oak Street boots in person, I want to get this right the first time.

I recently bought an incredible pair of Yuketen's in my regular size (9) and they have some heel slip when worn sockless - not like sandals or anything, they work, but a half size down would have been ideal.

George seems to think I could go with an 8.5, but I'd hate to wait 6 weeks for these and find out they are too small. I may ask him for measurements of the length of the shoe to make sure an 8.5 isn't too small.

Lawlercon - do you/have you worn Sperry Top-siders? I'm true to size in Sperry with a 9 and maybe that would be the best comparison someone could give me.

If anyone has experience with this, and wears a 9 in Sperry, for instance and a 9 in Oak Street that would be helpful.

    Thanks again so much.

I'm working on getting you an answer to the billing question.

After reading your Yuketen comment, I would also say go 8.5. The reason being is even if they're a little snug at first, the Horween will stretch quickly to mold to your foot for a perfect fit. Now that mine have broken in, I could definitely wear a size 10, so going down half a size shouldn't matter in the long run. Trust me, sizing is a valid concern, especially with the wait. I think that the 8.5 will most certainly be a great fit for you, even if they're a little tight at first. There is nothing worse than heel slip, especially since you'll probably be wearing these sockless a lot. I hope you're stoked on the shoes, they're nothing short of amazing.

That's what George told me as well, they might be tight but will stretch. Nice to know from you that you could have gone down a half size. Do you feel you would still have adequate room in the toe box/length if you sized down a half size? IE, would your toes have room toward the end of the shoe? Sorry for all the questions, but like you said it's important, especially for an order with an anticipated wait. Sounds like i'm almost ready to place an order. Thanks

I've got probably .5 inches from my big toe to the end of the toe box. The toe box is spacious in these, so you will definitely be good to size down .5. They break in quick too, I can't imagine you'll experience any discomfort about you have them on your foot for an hour.

Let me know if I can help with anything else...

The Vibram sole works wonders for long days. They'll get even more comfortable after a week of constant wear.
