    Hey guys,
It's official - Oak Street Bootmakers is now an affiliate :D

I'd like to take a moment to introduce myself and Oak Street Bootmakers! My name is George Vlagos - I'm the founder and design director.

For those who aren't familiar with Oak Street Bootmakers, all of our shoes and boots are handcrafted in the USA by shoemakers with over 20 years of experience. The highest standards of production are employed to yield shoes that are as durable as they are comfortable. Each of our shoes make use of replaceable outsoles to ensure a lifetime of wear. All of our shoes can be resoled at a local cobbler, or sent back to us for re-crafting.

We use the absolute finest materials in the world - all of our shoes are constructed from renowned Horween Chromexcel Leather ( http://horween.wordpress.com/2010/03/23/chromexcel[IMG]-2/ ). Chromexcel undergoes 89 separate processes taking 28 days and utilizing all five floors of the Horween facility in Chicago. Over the past 100 years very little has changed in the formula. Food-grade beef tallow, cosmetic-grade beeswax, marine oil, chrome salts, tree bark extracts and naturally occurring pigments are combined. The mixture is then applied using heat, steam pressure, the hands of craftsman and time. This ultimately yields the soft, supple and durable leather that is used for your shoes or boots.

And a little about myself, I apprenticed at my father’s shop where I learned the craft of shoemaking from an early age. Today, we seek to preserve the heritage of fine shoemaking through thoughtfully designed and attentively crafted shoes.

Also - we recently made a short film of our crafting process, at our workshop in Maine - take a peek!

Myself and Tony (who responds to info at oakstreetbootmakers.com) will be regularly posting. We'd be happy to answer any questions you may have, and we look forward to being supporters and actively involved members of the forum!

Grats on becoming an official affiliate. Is there anyway you can post more pictures of the hunt boots, preferably being worn? Pretty interested in them.

    Hey fitchottie,
First - thank you - so happy to hear that you're enjoying your two pairs of Oak Streets!

As for the new goodyear welted boots (yes, that's the photo!), they actually aren't quite ready yet! After that photo was taken, I actually decided to remake the last from the scratch. That last has been finalized, and I gotta say, it's pretty incredible in terms of shape and comfort :D
The toe box is a little 'taller' and it has a true 'box-toe'. I'm really really hoping that these will be available in August - for F/W. The lasts are about to go into production. As soon as the lasts land at our workshop, we'll get started on these! There are more options that didn't make it into the photo that I think you guys will really like :)

What are your price points for the captoe shoes? Apologies if you've already answered.

Yeah, I can do that - I've beat up a pair of the Loden Green Waxed Flesh Hunt Boots (we know that the website photos do they absolutely no justice). If I get home at a decent time I'll try to do that tonight...

Since the boots underwent a few minor changes, I haven't figured out the pricing just yet. With that said, with all Oak Streets, I try to offer them at the most fair price possible. I'm shooting for the pricing to be in line with other Oak Streets, though they will most likely be a tad more than that.

I got a pair of the navy suede trail oxfords about a month ago and I love them. Keep up the good work!

I'm looking forward to the boots for fall... Those hunt boots look amazing, but I'm very interested to see your new designs when they're available too.

    Hey George,

I have a pair of the navy tail oxfords, a belt, and shoe trees on order with you. I'm really looking forward to taking delivery. I hope the adjusted sizes do the trick this time.
In terms of what you keep in stock via your site, do you plan on offering wider widths regularly in the future?

Cheers, and glad you're an affiliate.

Awesome! I'm really loving my natural chromexcel beefroll loafers, I'm really looking forward to see what kind of boots get added to the lineup.

Hey George, I bought a pair of the boat shoes in Navy cxl a few months ago, and they are by far my favorite pair of shoes to wear in terms of comfort here in the hk heat and humidity and they fit like a glove but I did have a small issue almost immediately.

During the first few days of wear, the small leather patch you adhered to the sole unit flaked off my left foot, about a week later, the second one peeled enough to flap off. I could have glued it back but I had already lost the other so got rid of it.

A small stitch or something could have probably prevented this from happening.

I may have had a bad batch, but the adhesive used in my case wasn't up to snuff it seems.

Beautiful product otherwise though, looking forward to seeing more OSB products in the future!

If anybody has some real life shots of the Field Boot I would love to see them. I like the sole on that boot and the overall design but can't seem to find any real world pictures of it.

Hey Mossman - we actually stopped putting that piece of leather on the under side of the camp soles for that reason. That piece of leather just can't stay on the underside of the sole for a multitude of reasons - humidity, wet weather, etc. I actually wanted it there purely for aesthetic reason, because when it comes off it doesn't affect the shoe in any way. However, i quickly realized that everyone wanted that piece to stay on! So we did away with it! Now it's much improved, we have a built in 'logo' into the bottom of the sole rather than the strip of leather :)

Alright, if you're gonna twist my arm :D
I'm planning on offering them in brown and black - and I'm actually working on developing a new brown leather with Horween. I'm also considering using a heavy oak leather sole - so there would be the option of vibram or leather :nodding:

For the foreseeable future narrow and wide widths will be pre-order only (just shoot as an email and we'll craft it for you). In terms of inventory, it gets pretty intense when you keep all of that in stock. Our inventory is pretty wild already - can't imagine having widths in all sizes across the board...not yet at least =)

Thank you for the order - and enjoy the shoes!

Happy to hear you like the natural - it's so awesome =) natural vibram trail oxford is selling like gangbusters at Independence in Chicago. And of course, the beefroll like yours is a staple!
Keep posted here - and we always tip off the mailing list when something new is out (so they can be picked up before sizes sell out). Also, we don't tweet a ton, but if you're on twitter, follow us there @oakstbootmakers
    Thanks sharkminusbear!
    we post about new

Can anyone provide some sizing insight? I typically wear 7.5Ds in Barrie and 8E on the Leydon last for Alden.

Are you about an 8D on the brannock? I'm an 8D on the brannock and AE Strand/Park Ave, 7.5 in Barrie. My oakstreet loafers are perfect in size 7 with dress socks, and a bit roomy barefoot (they stretched a bit since I got them). I plan on getting the trail oxfords in a 7.5.
