Our first full day in NYC. (see NYC posting yesterday) Good shopping visits at H Hertzfeld, Brioni, T & A, Oxxford, Smythson, Bergdorf's, Zegna, Dunhill, Kiton, Sak's, Paul Stuart, BB, Orvis and J Press. (these were largely scouting visits, but interesting (see below) since I didn't really need anything nor did anything leap out at me-plus I have a very good store in Portland-Marios-with excellent sales on Zegna, Piana, Kiton, Brioni etc.) I wasn't impressed, nor did I expect to be, with the general quality of BB, Orvis or J Press. Dunhill struck me as a little young for me. Paul Stuart was ok.

As planned spent a good deal of time with Tashae at Oxxford (thanks Mark) and was impressed with his understanding of my interests/needs; will go back Sat to be measured so that when I'm back in Portland and responding to his emails re sales he'll know what to look for-my primary interests are trousers and especially sports coats. He says he has five Seattle customers he works with. Also in a few years I might do MTM. Similar conversation and results with Daniel at Bergdorf's re Charvet.

Dinner last night at Le Bernadin-very good seafood; tonite Jean Georges.

Was 80 degrees today; cooler tomorrow.

Hitting upper Madison avenue tomorrow.

Lucky you. Jean Georges is just fantastic. They recently changed the tasting menu desserts, and they are all stunning. The green apple sorbet (tastes like apple skin!) in the Orchard dessert is unreal.

You visited all those stores in one day!!??

Hitting upper Madison avenue tomorrow.
That'll cover Barneys, John Lobb, Domenico Vacca, Lattanzi, the Mansion, Berluti, Santoni, Davide Cenci, Peter Elliott. If you still have time try Jay Kos and Venanzi

Sat. is going to be chilly and rainy, a great museum day.

I'm quick or slow as the need or interest arises; it took me a little over 4 hrs.
