My wife and I will be in NYC on business. She would like a "cozy Italian restaurant around Greenwich Village".

What do you guys recommend?

I second babbo, or lupa, which is also excellent. I've only been back to gusto once since the chef changed and it was pretty weak, so I can't back up that suggestion. dell anima fits your description - small, warm, italian, village. That might be my top pick for "cozy". Also had a good meal at scarpetta recently but that's very different in feel and not the village although not that far away either.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I may have to extend my stay and purchase larger pants!

I've been to Lupa, Babbo, Gusto & Blue Hill and they are all great dining experiences.
My favorite though is Il Gatto Pardo http://www.ilgattopardonyc.com This place is a very romantic and is authentic Italian at its best.
If you enjoy Indian cuisine, try Devi. http://devinyc.com He has a Michelin.
