I'm going to be in NY this week. Have any of you guys done a C21, Filene's, even Daffy's run recently and seen good quality overcoats or trenchcoats - I'm looking for both, preferably a higher-end brand (Canali or above) at a ridiculously low price (naturally).
I won't have a lot of time so I'd like any feedback as to which place has the best odds.
Thanks for any input.

I visited c21 this past weekend and wasnt too impressed. They were pretty poorly stocked. I saw only one coat I liked, an 'Adolfo' in black wool.

C21 has had Allegri samples (or I would assume) over the last few seasons. Size 40, running around $300 or $400, I can't remember which. A decent, but unspectacular price. They usually do not have much in the way of higher quality outerwear. You might get lucky and find a Brioni at Filene's; I saw a few nice pieces at good prices, but it was very limited.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
