I picked this up on a previous trip to Tokyo, and I've just been back and still not used it so it needs to find a new home.
This was purchased from Wako in Ginza - one of the oldest and most luxurious department stores, located in Tokyo's upscale shopping district. It is brand new and unused, and comes complete with the dustbag, box, hangtags and care instructions (in Japanese).
It is beautifully constructed - lined in tan calfskin, and with cognac-coloured genuine crocodile to the outside. It is finished to a high shine which will dull down to a wonderful burnished finish with use. The front has a curved cut-out along the upper edge to make removing cards easier.
The skin is top quality, and this is made with one piece which wraps around front and back (no bottom seam). It will hold two cards or cards and (some) folded notes in the other side. The scales are well-proportioned and from the top-quality belly cut,and largely symmetrical across the piece.
I'm not sure I want to think about what I paid for this - above $500. Selling at what I think is a fair price for an immaculate, heirloom-quality item.
