I bought a pair of Nudie Average Joe Organic Jeans 9 months ago. I wore it every other day until it fits me quite well (not baggy and not tight) but I couldn't stand the smell anymore so I machine washed them in cool water only without any detergent. After the wash, it shrunk soo much that I can't even wear them anymore. Now I cannot even button it up and it is so tight now it looks like skinny jeans that cannot be buttoned up.

Before I bought them, I read that Nudies do not shrink much at all and only shrink lengthwise, so I'm shocked that I cannot even wear my fav jeans now. Could it be because its Organic??? Anyone else experience this with their Nudies or know the reason for this happening?

Now I'm afraid to wash my two other jeans (Acne and APC) for fear I will ruin them too!

They should stretch back out with continued wear. If you can't even button them, maybe just wear them around the house for a few days until they have a bit more space.

A lot of Nudie jeans are organic. I have had 3 pairs of Nudies in my life (all from 'organic denim') and from my experience they will always stretch back out to original sizing. Just be patient.

All organic really means is that they get their cotton from non-pesticized sources, in their case, probably produced non-chemically.

It means you have gained weight in your legs since you bought them.

Thanks, I will try and break them in but I will have to do so by wearing them without closing the two top buttons. Hopefully will be able to close them eventually...

My other jeans (APC and Acne) were bought around the same time as these Nudies and they have always fit tighter than the Nudies. So its worrying after washing these Nudies that its so tight I cannot even close the top 2 buttons.

Most people buy their raw denim quite snug, if you gain weight over the months/year you're wearing them, that weight gain will stretch them out very easily. Then suddenly they're the same size as you bought them, which was as small as you could possibly fit into A YEAR AGO. Now those extra few pounds are crushing you.

Dip the waistband in water, only the waistband, and then put them on. You should be able to button them with the added stretch from dampness, now wear them until they're dry, your body will stop them from shrinking down to an unbuttonable size. It will be really annoying, but it should work. What's an hour or two of discomfort after months of wearing your jeans hard? I did this the first time I washed my Ande Whalls. When I bought them I almost never sagged, then I started sagging my jeans and when they shrunk back to size they were too tight to sag. This helped the restretching process a lot, instead of having to go for a month wearing my jeans all high and choking my nuts.
