For some reason I can;t edit that post so I'll make a new one. I went to Bourbon street a few weeks ago and saw a ton of people wearing nudies. No raw denim though.

I second the bootcut ola. Best fitting jean I have ever owned too. The bootcut is really subtle too.

If you mean cool and stylish wise, most people would argue that Nudie has been dead in Sweden since late 2004, with Acne starting to go that way as well.

Oh and Nudie has started to make some jeans with blue back pocket stitching, take that as you will.

Just like any other brand of denim, something better will come in and Nudie will eventually join the likes of TR, 7, Diesel, etc.

It's just the natural process of designer jeans. We are also part of the reason why popular denim comes and goes. Something new will eventually detach us from the old because new is better and something to talk about on all these forums.

Sorry for the subtle, fortune cookie like response.

I think Nudie would be very happy if they went the way of TR, 7FAM, or Diesel.

    You guys kill me.
Nudie has a very tight distribution. They are the largest Swedish selling brand and have barely tapped the U.S. Market.
If you would stop bitching all the time and research your brands you would know this.
Someone forgot to tell me the mainstream America is willing to pay $225.00 for a pair of jeans....puhlease.
Are you going to cry about APC they are in almost every mens magazine of jean of choice. Don't beat up Nudie becaue they are trying to build brand loyalty ( which is the key word here).
Try to develope some it will pay off.

I've always felt Dry/Raw denim has an iconic quality that will withstand the test of trends. I'd also wager that, while certain Nudie cuts like Ola may fall in and out of fashion, they will never go out of style.

Hopefully this isn't just wishful thinking on my part.

First of all, I like APC and Nudie (I have 4 pairs), and wear both all the time, along with 5EPs.

That said, I think that APC and Nudie are very different brands, and that Nudie is aiming for a wider audience than APC. APC had the narrowest of distribution (just their stores + mail order, and perhaps *a* select store here and there in the strongest markets (only Kbond in LA had it)) and built up a cult following for a good dozen years before it expanded. Even now, it has kept the number of models very low (I think that there were 5 models at last count, up 150% from the original 2) and most of them not particularly accessible to the general public (excepting the Rescue, which most people can wear.) and maybe 3 washes a season, including ther perennial raw model. Nudie, of the other hand, has a model for everyone, and a dozen different washes. And as you said, they are huge in Scandanavia. Except among fashion types, APCs are not really huge anywhere, even now, when every second jean in GQ, Esquire, Details, etc... are APCs.

As for the pricepoint, Nudies start at $155 for non-selvage models, not at all out of line with other "premium" jeans. I think that Nudie does need to keep tight reigns on its North American distribution if it doesn't want to blow up (and not in a good way). I don't think that it would be advantageous to them to be as ubiquitous in the US as they are in Scandanavia, but certainly, they want to be a major, not a marginal, player in the lucrative North American market. It's the toughest line to walk.

Oh No!!!! Say it ain't so!!

It can't be dead, it just can't be. I haven't bought my 1st pair yet. [IMG]

K lemme do the math. 30% off from Revolve for 1st timers, plus 15$ off "JT" discount - *insert beepy-noise computers make when they're thinking* = $150something for a pair of RRDS. Hmmmmmm......

sorry, there are a lot of daytraders walking around chicago with big diesel logos on their asses and I don't want to risk looking like one of those guys-I really like the fit of the nudies;and the denim feels really great. So, in answers to all of your questions:
no, I work at a shop called espace that you've never been to or heard of
    also, untitled has them now-see?
nudies at pitchfork-it was like 97 and 40% humidity...
    I'm going to buy some on friday;
but, I'm going to sit down and tear out the stitching. I'll post pics

What store do you work at? You obviously dont work at Jake, Guise or E Street Denim because those are the only 3 stores carrying Nudie in Chicago. If i had to guess you probably work at the denim lounge.

I was just at Project Trade show and Nudie is no where near dead my friend, it doesn't hold the cult like status amongst the hipsters as it did last year, but that is because its to mainstream for most people you will find here.

Nudie is trying to become a major player in the denim market and compete with the big guys like the 7's, citizens, and true religions, so they are opening up their distribution channels. It's also a horrible time for us Nudie fans because raw denim is the IT jean of the season, so brands like Nudie (and everyone else now making a raw) are getting a lot of press.

I personally just bought a new pair of Nudies because I think there fits are classic and I love the back pockets, but a lof of people will seek out other brands (i.e. japanese denim companies). Last year you would never see a pair of Nudies let alone raw denim, but I have talked with the owner of a shop that sells nudies and they are finding they are doing really well and that a lof of people like the classic look fo raw denim.

So, i guess thats your answer, Nudie might be dead around here, but we are always looking for the next big thing, we are trend setters not followers. But, you will still find a lot of nudie lovers here and at mynudies.com

Did you go to project in NYC?

It seems like Nudie is one of the brands that has "made the cut" so to speak. I think denim has reached a period where a lot of the newer start up brands are going to fall by the wayside. I don't believe that Nudie is one of those brands. They seem to really have solidified a cult / decent following with good quality products. Hopefully they don't start getting crazy with their designs and making outrageous stuff.

I had a dream last night that Express started to sell Nudie denim. I went in there and saw piles and piles of them on the tables. Except, they were all horrible cuts and pre-distressed washes.

I agree. That deal is indeed golden.. except the starting price is $265, which is for lack of better words ridiculous.

And btw your computer must be broken because 265*.7-15 isn't anywhere near 150.
