Actually, this would constitute a true police ‘cruiser’: 2007 Mercedes-Benz CLS tuned by Brabus with a twin-turbo V12 S engine modified to make 730 horsepower and has a 225 mph top speed.

Here is one of the original Porsche 911 Targa Police cars. This magazine sourced black and white photo below was taken in 1968 outside of Amsterdam when the car was new. It is the same car pictured in the color diptychs below taken thirty years later in 1998. Read on!

During the 1960s and 1970s when Bill Yates operated his tiny Porsche dealership in San Juan Capristrano (California), this Porsche 911 Polizei Targa was a part of his small personal collection along with a lovely 550 RSK. This Targa is one of several made for the Dutch Police. However, this particular Targa was never delivered to the police and was used only for auto shows and display at public events.

Originally, this car was imported by Porsche Cars of North America in 1968 for use at various U.S. auto shows. The car appeared in Road&Track magazine in 1968. After the magazine drove it, Porsche stored it in Southern California for a year or so until Mr. Yates purchased it for his private collection. In addition to being displayed in his Lilliputian four-car seaside showroom, the Targa was regularly taken to the Monterey Historic Races, PCA events, and other enthusiast gatherings. It was always a crowd favorite. When the dealership was sold, Mr. Yates kept only the Targa and the 550 RSK. Mr. Yates died about ten years ago. His cars were sold and his famous “Polizei” 911 Targa went to a private owner on Long Island.

This Targa is unique in many respects. There are still less than 10,000 original miles on the odometer. It is painted in the white and orange Dutch Police colors, yet it has the German “Polizei” markings. You can also see in Christofuh’s image posts of a contemporary Porsche German Police car (above), the same "Polizei" markings with the correct German beige and green police colors.

Those Okies know how to ride, The only thing they have to watch out for is some Jag-on hitting them instead of stopping. Doesnt Appear to be turbo either.
I think someone is due to make a Ninja ZX14R Interceptor bike, those things are absolutely INSANE! Stock trim they are the fastest (street legal, stock) thing on two wheels. Or an Ariel Atom Cop car that thing would be bad too.

Not a Porsche or Lambo, but pretty sweet for the US. I would think nice cars would be a pretty effective recruitment tool. Military ads always seem to do a good job of marketing the "hey, wicked cool!" factor, but police ads -- at least NYPD ones -- tend to be so whitebread and boring: "there's nothing like the special feeling of returning a lost child to his mother". Yawn. How about "there's nothing like chasing some drug dealing punk down an alley, tackling him by the ankles, feeling him crash to the pavement, and hearing the 'click' of your cuffs as they strangle the circulation on his mangy wrists. And you didn't even need to draw your weapon. NYPD: You down?"
