As noted in the question I posed about custom suits, I'm new to this forum. I don't have the cash for some of the clothes discussed here, though I appreciate them very much. Even if I did, I'm cheap. But I still want to look my best, and I'm thinking about getting into the MTM or Custom market for a few items. I'm going to post questions in a couple of different threads to seperate the issues. FWIW, sizewize I'm pretty much a perfect 16 neck, 33 sleeve, 40R (maybe 38R in Hugo Boss), with a 6 inch drop.
Episode 2: Custom or MTM shirts.
So I have some Brooks Brothers shirts and I swim in them. I need a trim fit shirt and these are not. But for the $75 to $150 that their shirts cost, why not MTM?
So, where do you go for MTM or Custom shirts? I'm not going to spend hundreds of dollars per shirt, much as I'd like to. But what about the Custom Shop, Paul Frederick, Lands End, etc.? Are these any good? Are there smaller, better tailors out there that make good shirts under $100? For someone of a standard size like me, is it really worth it, or should I just look around for a ready made shirt from a designer that fits me better than Brooks Brothers does?
Any thoughts? Advice?
