Hey guys, there was a thread like this a while back I think, but I couldn't find it.

I'm looking for a winter coat... what are my options besides a peacoat? I'm looking for something that will hold the warmth in, so wool is ideal.

As a side note, specifically I'm looking for button up jackets with a lot of buttons, not like 3 or 4. All the ones I can find have like four huge pockets. Basically just a plain wool, waist length jacket, with buttons would be awesome. If this jacket was wool I would jump all over it.

    hi there!

i have a %100 wool coat from REISS (they have a shop in georgetown, DC)
if you have a REISS near you , check it out

    website:

    http://www.reiss.co.uk/us-en/catalogue/men/outerwear

i have the riot, which is double breasted with hidden buttons:
(2nd page on the outerware section of the website, lower left hand corner)

its an amazing coat.. there are alot of different combinationswith all the buttons, i suggest you try it on if you could...

any other questions, dont hesitate to ask

wow, thanks, those are pretty cool coats. I guess I'm really looking for something shorter though; that ends somewhere around the waist.

    no prob...

they aren't 3/4 length, but more like sport coat length (they admittedly look real long on the website)

definitely a little longer than "casual jacket " length, though

Nom De Guerre has a really nice wool M65, but I think it's like $600+.

I bought a wool M65 from H&M for $79 and it's really nice for the price, and looks comparable to the NDG one (besides quality and detailing, obviously, which may justify the $600 for some).

I'll agree it is a little misleading.

I seem to be finding a lot of coats like the m65. I'm not too keen on the extra details, like pockets and the things on the shoulders (what are they called?). I'm looking for a really basic piece -- buttons like the m65, but none of the other details. Does it exist?

some of those REISS coats look pretty awesome. i like the clean lines and lack of extra zippers, buttons, etc that don't serve any purpose. i live in the DC area so i'm definitely thinking about checking them out. but they seem like they'd be pretty pricey. neeon, could you give an idea of the price range? thanks!
