So it's not a North Korean company, but rather a company that manufactures through a mining company in North Korea and had to jump through all kinds of hoops to make it happen?

Hm.

Do they think people won't realize NK is a huge shithole, and being made there is the equivalent to being made in places like Vietnam, Bangladesh, Taiwan, etc.?

But if you want to dress up as a poor miner, these are actually made by a mining company in a country that makes Bangladesh seem wealthy by comparison! Now that's authenticity.

Taiwan doesn't belong in that group. As a matter of fact, neither do Vietnam or Bangladesh. Both are much preferable to North Korea.

"Well, we wanted to make jeans in a volcano. And we discovered, hey, this is really hard. Perhaps we should find another place to arbitrarily make our jeans simply for the sake of a marketing gimmick. But you know, we stuck with it. And I think everyone is going to love our jeans that were made in a volcano, and will be able to appreciate the several lives lost every day in order to deliver top-quality denim ... made in a volcano."
