Norfolk jacket cloth suggestions

Ive decided to have Bookster whip me up a full Norfolk jacket (my 6th item from them), and Im having a bit of trouble deciding on the fabric..

I currently have in fall/winter rotation several tweed odd jackets in various greens, one tan/brown herringbone, one gray wool/cashmere flannel hacking jacket (part of a 3 piece suit), and one gray donegal jacket with multi color flecks.

With the norfolk, Im looking for maximum versatility, and am considereing either something gray (ish) or in the tan/brown range.

The cloths Ive narrowed it down to are:

I will probably be wearing with a variety of pants, including (gasp) jeans, with CJ Connistons in Scottish tan..

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

You are going to have to wear it, so perhaps you should decide?

I like Three since it is a brown with some grey yarn hues spun into it. Would go nice with various colors of tweed, moleskin or corduroy trousers

But number Two gives you greater diversity since it is one of those rare greys which also has some earth tone yarns spun into it...thus giving you the maximum use as to the color of trousers and shoes to match it with...and you can even blend in light colored blue shirts, in addition to white and off white colored shirts

This allows you to wear the traditional black shoes (which IMHO is best for grey), or various shades of brown and tan colored shoes

I am not a fan of Harris Tweed...and most of it is too light for a Norfolk jacket (IMHO). Look to the mid & heavy weight cloths that Bookster offers for a better cloth

How do you feel about spending money on non-essential goods during the Covid-19 crisis?

  • I don't want to spend money at a time of economic uncertainty, even if I could afford it.

  • I feel compelled to spend to help small businesses that are struggling.

  • I reduced my budget for non-essential goods and I'm not spending at the moment.

  • Not much has changed for me and I'm still buying stuff I can't afford.
