Just purchased an unstructured italian sport coat. Are buttons and button holes the only option? Is there an alternative option of leather lacing? Or would that be ill-advised? That I should just stick with the traditional finishing with buttons and button holes?

Are you talking about a knit cuff similar to say a bomber jacket sleeve cuff?

Not exactly. Thinking of something like three leather lace X's instead of button holes. Or a smooth leather edge or fine leather blanket edging. Too wild?

Man that's pretty wild but I dig your imagination, I think the small xs would look badass. Maybe on a leather sport coat or something. It might look a little too out of place on a classic menswear type of sport coat. I'd recommend thrifting a jacket and experimenting with your ideas at a tailor to see how you feel about the finished product. A black leather jacket with red xs. Man I want to do that now. Lol

Thanks for the encouragement. I liked the concept but I haven't hit on the execution yet.

I like the black or gray leather sport coat with gray or black trim

Anytime Howie, if you end up going through with it I'd be interested in seeing the final product. Welcome to Styleforum and happy Holidays!
