Non-metallic blazer buttons

I recently purchased a basic navy blue blazer with brass buttons. I'm not fond of the brass buttons and would prefer something more matte in finish.

Would dark brown buffalo horn buttons be appropriate?

I think that might work if very dark brown, especially since it is a good material like horn. I think traditionally speaking the brass buttons are most correct but it can also drive a bit toward the yacht club appearance if not careful. A lot of high end Italian makes use a horn button these days of like material.

Thanks for your comment. I'm definitely hoping to avoid the yacht club look.

I was doing some forum searching and ran across that very idea. I'll try to find some online examples. I'm assuming a charcoal grey would be best?

MOP works well with spring/summer cloth and gives the coat more warm weather look. If the cloth is heavier and/or fuzzy and you intend it more as a fall/winter garment, go with the horn.

You could use a smoked mother of pearl, a blonde horn or a reddish horn, Id avoid a true dark brown horn. Im not sure if metal buttons are out, I think it's yelow, red or pink gold that's out. White metals like platinum, white gold, sterling with rhodium plating and titanium are in.
