We got rid of our TV subscription a little over a month ago. We don't have reception for "free" TV channels, so we don't have access to TV.

I can say that we don't miss it. Not even a little bit. My kids are not even complaining. They just do other stuff to entertain themselves (like reading books.)

I really think that my family's quality of life has improved without the TV. I'm not sure I will ever go back.

I haven't had a tv for over a year now. I honestly don't see a reason to watch it. The few shows that I would watch are all online.

Internet now thats another story.......

I havent watched tv in over two months now the only show i have been watching online is "the office". The only politics i am catching is what is mentioned on SF. I think it has helped me as well. I think it has helped to clear out the clutter in my head not being glued to the boob tube

I do best the less media I have. We grew up without TV (though with movies), and though hateful while young, now I appreciate it. I didn't have internet at home for a semester, it was my most productive time. When I move again, I'm not going to get internet.

I went for a lot of years without a tv. I have one now, but watch mostly news and sports.

I haven't had a tv for a year now. Online video links and BitComet for the win if anything.

Since I moved into the dorms I haven't plugged in my TV yet, or hooked up my Xbox 360. Can't say I've been happier, I feel very sad when I walk by all the doors and I just see people wasting away in front of their TVs all the time.

Yeah, I'd rather waste away on SF.

I agree with all the "I hate TV/internet" posts, but why is it so hard to just not to watch or use them?

In with hating televsion, can easily do without. There are no "Must see" shows for me, what a waste that is.

Its really hard though when you have a roommate who is the absolute essence of couch potato, 24/7.

wasn't "being proud of not watching TV" one of those things on that Stuff white people like blog? hilarious.

but really, why is it that people are so proud of depriving themselves of such a HUGE source of information?

I mean, I don't read books or the newspaper but I wouldn't run around bragging about it. TV is here to entertain and inform. Heaven forbid we do something PURELY to entertain ourselves. I work too hard to subject myself to all that.

that and I work in TV advertising.

For the last 5ish years the only reason I have watched tv was during July for the Tour. TV simply isn't entertaining for me otherwise, there are other things I enjoy doing.
